The following is all that I have on Uriah Riddle, taken from Nettie Lee Benson's The Riddell, Riddle, Ruddle Trail, Vol. VI. No. 1, p 10: "TWO DIFFERENT SAMUEL RIDDLE AND THEIR DESCENDANTS SAMUEL (4) RIDDLE was possibly the son of SAMUEL (3) ? & _______ (_______) RIDDLE. He was born ________, ____, 1800, at Surry ? County, North Carolina. (Note: There was a SAMUEL (3) ? RIDDLE, born ca. 1765, living in Surry County, N.C., in 1800 with four males, possibly sons, under age 10 years, and one son?, age 10-16, and a wife, age 26-45, and two daughters? under age 10. See: 1800 N.C. census record or (sic) the RIDDLE TRAIL, Vol. I., No. 1, page 6) This compiler strongly believes that further research is necessary here. SAMUEL (4) RIDDLE died on ______ at _________. He is buried at _________ in _______ cemetery. He resided at Surry County, N.C. in 1800; in ________? in 1810; in ________? in 1820; in Bedford County, Tennessee, in 1830, where he was living near a GEORGE (4) ? RIDDLE (age 40-50, apparently born between 1781-1789), whom this compiler believes to have been his uncle; SAMUEL (4) ? RIDDLE was at Jackson Co., Alabama, in 1840, where he was living evidently next door to MATHEW/NATHAN RIDDLE, and JAMES RIDDLE, both possibly related to him, either brothers or cousins; SAMUEL (4) ?RIDDLE, was living at Marshall Co., Tennessee in 1850; and his whereabouts after that date are not presently known to this compiler. Occupation Farmer. Church: ____________? He married JULIA A. __________ on _________, ca. 1825, at _______? She was the daughter of ________ & _________?. She was born on ________ __, ca. 1805 at _________ Va. She died on ______ at _________. She is buried at __________ in ________ cemetery. The children of SAMUEL (4) ? and JULIA A. (_________) RIDDLE were: 1. URIAH RIDDLE, born ______, ca. 1827, at Jackson Co., Ala. He may have been the URIAH RIDDLE, age 53, shown living with family of ten in 1880 census: E.D. 249, sheet 5 line 29 on p. 16 of Marshall Co., Ala. Otherwise I have nothing more on him presently. 2.
