My Grandmother states in all the census records and also on her death certt. she was born in Kansas. What county or city I do not know. She was born in 1832 if the date is correct. Her mother and father were George W. West and Caroline M. Harless West. I believe they were traveling to Texas, as each of their children were born in a different state, and their last one was born in Texas where he purchased land in Texas and stayed until their deaths. Is there any way Kansas might have birth records going back that far? If anyone knows of a place I might be able to locate them would you please let me know, I would appreciate it. wrak
Marie, More. Obituaries in the Emporia Gazette list the following two possibilities for Mr. & Mrs. Brown: Brown, E. -- 1 May 1902 Brown, Laura Ann nee Fronk, Mrs. Edgar W. -- 6 Aug 1945 http://www.rootsweb.com/~ksfhgslc/obitbrbu.html If interested, you could order those two obituaries and see what additional info they provide. The Riddles listed correspond to the William Baird & Elizabeth Ellen (Brown) Riddle family we've discussed previously (William, Lizzie, Harry, Laura, Agnes). It is interesting to note the adjacent Brown family entries. Only first initials are given, but I have noted that Lizzie Brown's parents were Edgar and Laura Brown corresponding nicely with the husband and wife in the Brown family. Ages are OK too. You can get it at a more reasonable price on cdrom. The value of it depends on your branch. I'm very sad to hear of Stan's passing. I didn't have occasion to converse with him, but did read his various postings and am sure he will be greatly missed. Condolences to his family. I had no luck with it, Kathy, when I triedto trace the line in Ireland. All my line said was that they went there. There is some interesting information about Scotland, but not a great deal about Ireland.
