    1. [RIDDLE] William T Riddle Sites
    2. Hello Fellow Descendants of William T. Riddle - My name is Jodie and I'm a descendant of William's 5th son, Joseph Riddle b.1777 and twin to Issac. There have been several researchers who have written books on our line. One researcher, Jack Goins, is a descendant of William's daughter, Harriet "Happy" Riddle Fisher. For info on Jack and his book, go to: <A HREF="http://continuitypress.com/goinsndx.html">http://continuitypress.com/goinsndx.html</A> There is an index so you can read which Riddle Names he includes in the book. Seem Also: also " > 7. In the Riddle family of Utah there is a tradition that the family > was of "Portugee" ancestry, which is a common tradition among people of > Melungeon ancestry. See also Jack H. Goins, "Melungeon Families - Sizemore, > Minor, Goins, Fisher and Riddle," Families of Hawkins County, Tennessee > (1786-1994), (Rogersville, Tn. : Hawkins County Genealogical and Historical > Society, 1994), pp. 537-540." http://www.jimcal.com/v04is01.htm#7 Here's 2 sites that I think answer most of our questions. <A HREF="http://www.jimcal.com/v04is01.htm#William">http://www.jimcal.com/v04is01.htm#William</A> - Note: They propose 2 lines of Riddles. One is Stokes Co. NC - which site was originally created for. This is the line that came from Scotland. However, they had so many inquiries from the William T. Riddle Line; that they added info for OUR line of Riddles. So be sure to look for William T. Riddle descendant notes. It is proposed by professional researchers, that Moses Ridley/Riddle is the father of William T. Riddle - Moses and wife Mary are listed as Indian's on the Pittsylvania List of Tithables in 1767 source: <A HREF="http://www.jimcal.com/v04is01.htm#7">http://www.jimcal.com/v04is01.htm#7</A> <A HREF="http://mkhgenealogy.com/index.html">http://mkhgenealogy.com/index.html</A> (Select descendants of Cornelius Roberts) http://www.fialcowitz.com/Bunch/other9.html I have others, but didn't want to inundate you. Sincerely, Jodie Bond ggggd of William T. Riddle

    3. Russ - I've corresponded with you in the past. Re: Fred Plum - I have no knowledge of a book. I have three pages of handwritten information on the "Riddles from Scotland to Virginia Colony America" which was supposedly written by Fred Plum to my Great Aunt Lizzie Riddle Mann. According to Mr. Plum, although there is nothing to back up his assertion, Thomas Riddle was born in Scotland about 1740 and died in Georgia (Hanged by England). If anyone is interested in Mr. Plum's writings I will be glad to forward them. 2. Hello Charles, I have had the same question regarding William (T.) Riddle, as to where he was born? There is a book by an author Fred Plum written some years ago. I do not have this book ... haven't been able to get a copy of it, if any one knows how I could get a copy of this book let me know? I don't know whether this book gives any evidence to verify his coming from Scotland but that is what that book says! And, I think it is the source of this information I believe. Or, so it is my understanding. Any one have any INFO on this subject of Wm. (T.) Riddle's place of birth???? I am a descendant of Isaac Riddle, and he married Anna Grizzel as their tombstone even shows ... as well the Grizzel Descendant website shows he married her with many, many, many, many Grizzel and of course from their marriage Riddle descendants. Wish I could get that record without trying to print it all. Not to mention (their marriage info.) also comes from many records family descendants have keep ... researchers have recorded/found. But I think their tombstone suffices to answer that question. Not, heard of there being a second wife? As to the issue of Wm. RIDDLE postion in the Rev. War as a Loyalist/Tory. It is my view -- but I don't think about which side was right(?) in 'a country divided against it's self' like in the Civil War and Rev. War. I think it only becomes a B/W issue to some only after the fact -- as far as history is concerned (and) there was a winning side then they are more often labeled the good guys.
