Searching for parents/siblings of Elizabeth RIDDLE b. 1826. The first document that we have found is her son's death certificate, John Long. It gives his mother, Elizabeth RIDDLE, from KY. Also have found 1860 census with Elizabeth Hurt living with John Long b. 1811 OH and a son John b. 1858 AR. Her first husband was said to have been a physician from VA of KY with the name of Hurt or maybe Hurd. He died in the Civil War at the Battle of Pea Ridge. Their home had been turned into a hospital since they lived near the battle site. She had to leave her home quickly because the Carpetbaggers were approaching. We believe she married this John Long and later divorced him. In 1870 she and her son were living in Grand Rapids, MI. She was listed as Elizabeth Long with son, John Long b. 1858 AR. The family has John's school graduation certificate from Grand Rapids in 1873. Elizabeth married a Cyrus Sauer(s) who died about 1875/6. In 1880 census she is living with her so! n, John in MI. She is now Elizabeth Sauer and in 1881 they moved to Fresno, CA. They are listed in the Fresno City Directory. Her son married Margaret Hurley in Phoenix, AZ. In the 1900 census Liz Sauer is living with them in their Phoenix home. We have traced her to Phoenix, AZ d. 1901. Possibility, that the family was from southeastern part of MO, AR, KY, or OH. Any information is appreciated and you may contact me at cactuspatch@charter.net Thanks, Jim Long

in the Hill Country of Tx. but was originally from SA Tx which is always 10 deg warmer. My mo is staying with me now, 86 and hoping she will stay as her house is a big white elephant and the heat does not seem to take and the flame is extremely low -SA CPS-says "that's all you get"-house has those old steam cast iron radiators-they outcoded them because they apparently got rid of the old guys who knew how to work on them. They were the most efficient heat there was and yes my grmo got them vented. They want to rebuild trust in SA City Office since the last scandal-bet that is the tip of the ice berg. It ain't gonna' happen. In this place there is no City govt. and where I work the taxes of that place are high and they do nothing but people have told me they have looked all over and it is still the best place to live. Makes you wonder. frances ----- Original Message ----- From: <Susie53pollock@aol.com> To: <RIDDLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, January 23, 2003 8:52 PM Subject: Re: [RIDDLE] Not Drinking > Francis, Where are you located at? Hi, does anyone have any information on the Jeanette Riddle who married Honorias Powell, Jr. in 1736 in Orange Co.,VA? To the listers who are thinking that your ancestor named Green had an unusual name....in 20 yrs of research, I have run across Green as a first name dozens of times as I've researched the southern states. It really isn't as unusual as we would like to think it is, although, I must admit, I have never understood why anyone would name their son, Green!
