    2. Don't know if you have this info or not....so I"m passing it along -- Jodie John Riddle, born February 10, 1775 in Montgomery Co., Virginia; died in Pulaski Co., Missouri. He married Sary Johnson 1797 in Hawkins Co., Tennessee; born March 01, 1775 in Surry Co., North Carolina; died 1837 in Pulaski Co., Missouri. Notes for John Riddle: John was apparently left behind when his mother remarried and moved to Tennessee. He was bound at the age of seven in May, 1782, to James Newell until he reached the age of twenty-one. Before he reached that age Newell was ordered to teach him to read, write and cipher to "the rule of three" and at age 21 to pay him the sum of twenty pounds.("The Riddle, Riddell, Ruddel Trail" by Nettie Benson) In a message dated 1/27/2003 3:04:52 AM Eastern Standard Time, driddle@infowest.com writes: > Jackie - You must live down around New Braunfels. 3. A Riddle list subscriber Linda Lane was sweet enough to send me the whole line of Mariah Forge Riddle's. It took me a whole year to organize my paper work, to go from living like an old squirrel with papers stuffed like nests everywhere to being organized. I broke one paper shredder and much to my horror when PoteetGourd@aol.com asked about the Mariah Forge Riddle's of Talladega-the iron workers of Ala who came into Ala from Pa. and I do not have the papers anymore. frances ----- Original Message ----- From: <Dayjovu@aol.com> To: <RIDDLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 27, 2003 4:21 PM Subject: Re: [RIDDLE] Mariah Forge Riddle's > In a message dated 1/27/2003 5:02:02 PM Eastern Standard Time, > Cats@personalcomputer.net writes: > > > did Wm.'s descendants go into Ala and be the Mariah Forge Riddle's > > Frances > > William T's Line went mostly west or South to Texas. 3. may I butt in to make things even more confusing. Tee Hee Giggle James McClure Sr. born -one says SC possibly and another states Ky; believe LDS has Boone Co.; he is fa of my Wm. McClure (farmer in the 1831 Choctaw Indian census of Ms.); Wm. is the fa of Missouri Ann Blackwell McClure Claiborne Co. Ms. md.1850 to Green Joseph Riddle b. 1824 Ala. prob. Talladega and Green and Missouri had Lula/Mary"Minnie"/George and Green. There is a George Riddle in Boone Co./Rockcastle Ky. in LDS microfish and that is where Kathleen told me James McClure Sr. was born but other source said he landed there. James Jr. and James Sr. were in La. in 1830 and then went back to Ms. or Ky., think Ms.. Next step is Green and Missouri's kids all born in La. even though they lived in Ms.; Green sent Lula and Minnie with their Black Slave Mammie to Catholic Boarding School for safety during Civil War and was alone with little boys George 7 and Green (3 months).Missouri must have died. He obviously remarried a woman named Josephine as she is listed as mo on Lula Riddle Maskew's death record of Waco Tx. Mammie is buried near her, lived to be 105 yrs of age and Dr. James J. Riddle is buried nearby also -tombstone reads b. Talladega 1821-1881. I am left with questions. frances ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert Riddle" <rlr007@sbcglobal.net> To: <RIDDLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 27, 2003 2:20 PM Subject: Re: [RIDDLE] Elizabeth b.1826 > > Hi Jim & Sandy > I have an Elizabeth Riddle b.1826, Boone County, KY. 3. Jim, I also didn't get your 'epistle' ( even checked my trash bin :>). I have one Elizabeth Riddell (name was originally Riddle/Riddle/Ruddell?). She was born abt 1827 in Estill Co KY, dau of Col. John Hugh Riddell and Elizabeth Mize Riddell. Elizabeth married John Whitehead on 11 Jun 1846 in Estill Co KY. Notes: est co ky marr records, Vol A - 154, signed by Stephen K. Vaught Not noted in father John H. Riddell's will, Will Bk E, Estill Co Ky, dtd 28 Oct 1863, page 97. Isaac Mize book. Says that nothing further is known about her. Est Co Ky marriage permission notes: Certificate of marriage of John Whitehead and Elizabeth Riddell, 9 June 1846, signed George W Maples. John Hugh Riddell is the son of Robert Sr and Mary Hyatt Riddle/Riddell, of Stokes Co NC and Estill Co KY. If this isn't the Elizabeth you're looking for, maybe it will help someone else. The first document that we have found is her son's death certificate, John Long. It gives his mother, Elizabeth RIDDLE, from KY. Also have found 1860 census with Elizabeth Hurt living with John Long b. 1811 OH and a son John b. 1858 AR. Her first husband was said to have been a physician from VA of KY with the name of Hurt or maybe Hurd. He may have died in the Civil War at the Battle of Pea Ridge. We believe she married this John Long and later divorced him. In 1870 she and her son were living in Grand Rapids, MI. She was listed as Elizabeth Long with son, John Long b. 1858 AR. The family has John's school graduation certificate from Grand Rapids in 1873. Elizabeth married a Cyrus Sauer(s) who died about 1875/6. In 1880 census she is living with her son, John in MI. She is now Elizabeth Sauer and in 1881 they moved to Fresno, CA. and is listed in the City Directory. In the 1900 census Liz Sauer is living in Phoenix AZ. We have traced her to Phoenix, AZ d. 1901. Possibility, that the family was from southeastern part of MO, AR, KY, or OH. Any information is appreciated and you may contact me at cactuspatch@charter.net Thanks, Jim Long
