Teresa, It has helped me a lot because I don't have access to a library with genealogical materials (unfortunately). Most of the folks I have found have been in New England and there seems to be a lot of information about that area. One suggestion is to look at the databases available on that site and see if you think they would help you. For me it has been a lifesaver. Does anyone know who this is? >From "Stockton Valley Association of United Baptist 1805-1968; Partial Abstract and Index" by Randolph Nunnally SMITH: "Brother James Gilliam RIDDLE was born Jul 29, 1896, professed a hope in Christ and joined the United Baptist Church at Mt. Pisgah and was baptized by pastor, Elder J. D. Stailey while quite young. He died happy on May 17, 1918. He talked and told those around him that he could hear heavenly choir and that angels were with him. When told that he did feel good one morning he replied he did and at one called his family around and told them not to grieve after him; that he was going to heaven. He leaves a wife, three children, father, mother, two brothers, two sisters, and many relatives and friends to mourn their loss which we know is his eternal gain." Any help greatly appreciated. Riddler's Need more Riddle pictures to brighten up our Family site. My Riddle pictures need some company. This might be a neat deal we can share lots of Riddle Family info here. There is a chat room that can be used by members while visiting the site. Also you can see Who is Online while they are in the site. You can add as much info about yourself as you feel comfortable with. The birthday notice is neat we can all wish them a "happy birthday" as they get just a "little" older. If you have a photo you would like to share but don't have a scanner if you want to send it to me via snail-mail I will scan and post it. I put my Riddle photo's under the Album of William J. (Julius) Riddle that way others will know what line my Riddles are. You can name your own Album and post photo's of your family under that name. Come visit the "Solving the Riddles" family site and let's see what we can make out of this opportunity to share our Riddle family info. If you didn't get your "invite" to the site and would like one send me your full name an e-mail address. Danny Riddle ddr45@msn.com
My name is Lynn Stephenson WShoes8222@aol.com Danny here is my email and my full name.
Hi Riddle, Going through my old Riddle files. I have some information that was sent to me by another researcher (Roy Malone of Granbury Tx) regarding Jane RIDDLE, born 1 April 1826 in VA; married John "Capt Jack" Sevier Hanna (born 24 June 1815 Tennessee; died 24 Sept 1882 Meridian, Bosque Co, TX who was a farmer & sheriff); died 5 Feb 1911 Meridian, Bosque Co, TX. Their children: Woodville, Mary , Elizabeth, John Adrian, Amanda, George W, Isabell, Thomas W, Anna Hanna, James T, Robert L, Jefferson Davis, and Charles Wylie Hanna. There is an obit for the Death of Aunt Jane Hanna and a nice photo of Capt Jack Hanna - husband of Jane Riddle - sitting in a chair with his hand on his pistol. He was a frontier sheriff. If anyone has this line, I'd be happy to send this information to you. Cathy

Russ Here are a couple of Texas web sites you were asking about: The Texas State Historical Association has a site which includes the online version of the New Handbook of Texas. It is a 7,000 page, six volume encyclopedia, which offers some 23,500 articles about the men and women who shaped the state. It has 8,000 community entries which includes histories of all 254 counties and some 8,000 biographies. The address is www.tsha.utexas.edu The Texas State Archives includes a searchable list of Confederate Pension Applications which includes several Riddles. A great deal of other information is available, going back all the way to the days of the Republic of Texas. The address is www.tsl.state.tx.us/lobby/arcfirst.htm I'm sure there are more, but these should get you started. Gaylon
