    1. [RIDDLE-L] Ruth Riddle
    2. Hi Cousins: I just happened to be listening to CNN yesterday and the name RUTH RIDDLE caught my attention. She was one of the BRANCH DAVIDIANS who was arrested after the fire at Waco, Texas in 1993. I found her name on the web site for the update on the Waco appeals . Does anyone know her or her realatives ? Lynn Stephenson

    2. In 1787 half of Kentucky was Lincoln Co, VA. So this Moses could have been lots of places.

    1. Re: [RIDDLE-L] William Riddle of Garrard Co., KY
    2. Hi Nancy....Well Ive been looking in my Riddle's for James and Dicey Abney and what I have found in my records is that James and Dicey married ca. 1803 in Madison Co., Ky.That James and Dicey had a son William who was born 10-15-1807, who was the Wm. who married Anne Griffin in 1826 in Garrard Co., Ky. and had 5 children: Greenup B. born 11-02-1829 in Rockcastle Co., Ky. John Wellington born 08-24-1831 in Rockcastle Co., Ky. Ellen Eliza born 09-18-1832 in Pulaski Co., Ky. Mary Jane born 10-07-1834 in Pulaski Co., Ky., and Aquilla born 03-27-1837 in Pulaski Co., Ky. That William was a Black Creek Indian (?), who had a brother Robert born ca 1812. This is not my line, but I think I might have said that my line is Thomas Riddle Sr. who was born ca. 1798 in Frankfort, Ky. (parents unknown) who married Hulda Osbourne (parents unknown) born 1808 in Ky. and died 04-15-1856 in Lynnville, In., and she is buried there also. I havent been able to find anything else on Thomas Sr. I have been doing this since 1977 and it is a very large, time consuming hobby of mine...I write down every Riddle that I see and then try to get all of the familes together...I started this back in 1977 and so I do have thousands of names, which slowly I am getting in some order...but am far from being finished...a very lot of hard work, trying to do that., so joining this Riddle Group has furnished me with a lot of very interesting stories and facts. In doing this hopefully I will run into my Thomas Riddle one of these days. Hulda did have a brother who came from Ky. to Warrick Co., In. and settled there with his family. His name was Warden Osbourne...who I believe Thomas and Hulda named their first son after...Warden also had a daughter by the name of Hulda also...but that is all that I have on the Osbourne's......Now on Moses I did find a Moses (Ridley) Riddle who married a Mary Gibson, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Gibson., and children listed as Isaac born in Flatt River, Orange Co., N.C. Moses, John, Wm. Thomas (I believe the Tory) and Randolph and Tyree....I really dont have any proof of this though. When I first started this I didnt write where or who I got info from....have been all over Ind., Ky., Ill., Tn., Az. Have walked hundreds of Cemeteries, gone to (not sure) county seats in these states, libraries, census, etc....you name it..haha So if there is a name that has you stumped I might just have them somewhere in my books...Well it is 1:38am so guess I should be getting in bed, but am single so I can really stay up as long as I want...I do have 4 children James (Jimmy) who lives in Nashville, Tn. (close to the National Archives..Jerry who lives in Chandler, Az. (which is where Charles Smith is from (the one who lives in London). Janet who lives in Tulare, Ca. and Jackie who lives in Mn. (whom I am visiting for couple weeks next month..Also going to Ca. to visit my daughter there from October til January...but will still be on the puter doing my favorite thing...trying to "Solve the Riddles" . So if I can be of any help, please just let me know ok.....Loretta Riddle in Evansville, In. ----- Original Message ----- From: Alan & Nancy Abraham <anabr@swcp.com> To: <RIDDLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, August 26, 1999 12:41 AM Subject: Re: [RIDDLE-L] William Riddle of Garrard Co., KY > Mary: > > Moses Riddle and Catherine Hazel have been suggested as the parents of > this William Riddle. 3. Mary: Moses Riddle and Catherine Hazel have been suggested as the parents of this William Riddle. Other people have named a James Riddle who married Dicey Abney in 1803 in Madison County KY as the parents of William and a brother Robert (b 1812), and that Fames, Dicey, and Dicey's father, William Abney, lived in Estill County until about 1810. Then they all moved to Rockcastle Co by 1820 census. Loretta: What info or ideas do you have on this William's parents? Which Riddle do you descend from -- if I knew, I've forgotten and can't find a printed e-mail with that info? 2. Hi Nancy, thanks for replying...I did make a mistake when I wrote the last message...It was the children of John W. and Angeline (Langford) that I was talking about...In fact I do have John and Angeline as having two children..One female (name unknown), born 06-21-854 in Rockcastle Co., Ky. and Mary Frances (Frant) born 8-14-1855 in Rockcastle Co., Ky. I have Angeline dying 06-11-1858 in Coral Branch, Rockcastle Co., Ky. What I was really wanting to know is, do you know anything about the unknown female that was born 06-21-1854? I do have Mary Frances marrying Milton C. Proctor 09-04-1873 in Rockcastle Co., Ky., but have no children listed. I have John W. marrying #2 08-07-1858 in Pulaski Co., Ky. with the following children: Sarah Braun "Sallie" born 11-08-1859 in Rockcastle Co., Ky. Wm. H. "Billy" born 01-06-1862 in Rockcastle Co., Ky. Alice "Little" born ca. 1864 in Rockcastle Co., Ky. who died very young. James Wellington Jr. born 11-06-1866 in Rockcastle Co., Ky. Ellen "Ella" J. born 02-20-1868. Frances E. "Fannie" born 05-28-1870 and died 11-12-1882 of TB. Helen Bell born 09-16-187_? and died 11-02-1891. Emma P. born 02-25-1876. John Green "Johnnie" born 04-21-1878. Charles L. born 11-07-1880. and Minnie Logan born 10-11-1883...Please correct me on any of the info that I have ok...But was just wondering if you had found the first child of John W. And Angeline. Also do you have Angeline and Sarah Joplin as sisters with their father named Liberty? Do not have mothers name...Thanks for any info you have...Sorry about the mix-up earlier..Thanks Loretta Riddle in Evansville In. ----- Original Message ----- From: Alan & Nancy Abraham <anabr@swcp.com> To: <RIDDLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 25, 1999 1:07 PM Subject: Re: [RIDDLE-L] Kindred konnections site > Loretta: > > Don't think Mary Frant could be the child of William and Anne. 2. Mary Hill
    3. Hi, I wonder if your William Riddle could be the son of Moses Riddle who married Catherine Hazel in Lincoln Co., KY in 1787? Moses lived in Garrard Co., KY for many years. My notes: !MARRIAGE: LINCOLN COUNTY KENTUCKY RECORDS, VOLUME I; Michael L. Cook, C.G., Kentucky Records Series, vol. 23; (Evansville, Indiana : Cook Pub.); p.18 "Bond of Moses Riddell to marry Catherine Hazel, with James Graham as surety, July 18, 1787. Consent of Samuel Hazel for his daughter, July 16, 1787." I think this Moses Riddle is related to William Riddle (tory). 3. Loretta: Don't think Mary Frant could be the child of William and Anne. Wm. died in 1840. My notes show that Mary Frant was the child of John W. and either 1st wife, Angelina, or 2nd wife, Sarah Joplin Langford b. 1841. My notes show that Angelina was born 1838, and that she and John were married 21 Dec 1852, making Angelina only 14 when they married. Also that Mary Frances (or Mary Frant as she was called) m. Milton C. Proctor. In looking over my "stray" notes found I have written down "from somewhere" that John W.'s children were: 1. Mary Frances, 14 Aug 1855 in Rockcastle Co KY; Wm. H, 1862; Alice; James Wellington, 1866; Ellen, 1868 (who m. Overton Agee); Frances E. 1870; Helen Belle, 1873; Emma P. 1876; John Green, 1878; Charles L. (m. Dora Cox); and Minnie Logan, 1883. Anyone have any corrections or comments on these children?? 2. -- I think I need to rephrase the message I just sent re: Wm and Anne Griffin's children: I meant to say that it was about the 1st child of John W. and Angela Langford's first child...not Wm. and Anne's...Sorry about that...sometimes you see so many names you kinda get side tracked.....I probably have around 2,000 Riddle names, and am tryiing to get them organized (haha) but am making some progress...but did have the info on the first child, but no name, so if anyone can help or if I am wrong in finding this, please let me know ok...Thanks Loretta in Evansville, In. - Original Message ----- From: loretta1125@email.msn.com <Loretta1125@email.msn.com> To: <RIDDLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 25, 1999 2:13 AM Subject: Re: [RIDDLE-L] Kindred konnections site > Hi in checking my files on Wm. and Anne Griffin..I found a child (female) > name unknown, who was born 06-21-1854 in Rockcastle Co., Ky. 2. Hi in checking my files on Wm. and Anne Griffin..I found a child (female) name unknown, who was born 06-21-1854 in Rockcastle Co., Ky. Could this be their 1st child and possible born premature or dead..since she had child #2 Mary Frances (Frant) 08-14-1855 in Rockcastle Co., Ky. Does anyone know about the 1st child...Would appreciate hearing about it, if anyone knows...Thanks Loretta in Evansville, In. ----- Original Message ----- From: Alan & Nancy Abraham <anabr@swcp.com> To: <RIDDLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 24, 1999 11:50 PM Subject: Re: [RIDDLE-L] Kindred konnections site > Cathy: > > All the good Wm Riddle info on Kindred Konn is under the name of my > wonderful son-in-law, Allen Miles. 3. Russ: I had a cousin send me some pictures of her Riddell family and I have a picture of boys that are twins and she has no idea who they are. They must be Riddells because it came from her fathers album he was Samuel Joseph Riddell the son of Richard L Riddell b. 1835. Samuel Joseph was born in 1891 in Florida Mo, and died in Macomb IL in 1950. He is the grandson to Sameul Riddell who was b. in 1790 in Maryland(or who knows where) according to the census. I see all these names being flashed on the screen and I have the majority of them in my line but can't make a connection. Thats amazing. 3. Cathy: All the good Wm Riddle info on Kindred Konn is under the name of my wonderful son-in-law, Allen Miles. Four years ago just before he married my daughter I asked him if he could find out as much info about his grandparents, etc. as possible so I could enter the info under my daughter's entry, and the rest is history. He is now an avid genealogist, but has recently moved to England with his job (and my daughter and grandchild), but he has traced his own family lines back several hundred years. My daughter's remark was "Thanks alot, Mom - now he's on the computer hunting relatives all the time!" Somebody's gotta do it. About my Wm Riddle: I don't think my William was married 2 times, but here's the info: William Riddle, b. 15 Oct 1807, possibly VA, d. 20 Aug 1840, m. 1826 in Garrard Co KY to Anne Griffin, daughter of Solomon Griffin and Mary Martha Bull. anne died 7 Sept 1897 Rockcstle Co KY: Their Children: 1.
