I need help!!! On ancestry.com someone has listed my ancestor, William Jackson Riddle, born 5 May 1831 in Indiana County, PA and he died in Foxburg, Clarion County, PA in 1915. They have listed him with an 'alien' family and have him dying in Rockville, IN! How do I go about correcting this situation? I have his death certificate which clearly proves his place of death... Pat
Pat, Where it says contact submitter, just click and you will have the e-mail address of that person and can contact them directly. Hope this helps. Can these bricks be purchased by individuals? Will they or are they selling them to help pay for the preservation? I would be interested in having one and a picture of the site, because I don't think that I would ever be able to see this in person. Bev Clark
If there is a e'mail address to correspond with, you can write and hope they will correct erroneous information, if not you just have to ignore it. I see quite a few errors that I know for certain at various sites, and try to correct what I can, but it's not my duty to purify the world. Some won't change even if presented with the facts.
Bev: As far as I know, all of the bricks are purchased by individuals. It's getting pretty close to dedication date, so I am not sure if they are still for sale, but I would suggest you contact Joan at Old Wilks Museum for more information. Her email address is as follows: OldwilkJB@aol.com The bricks were being sold for $50.00 each with two lines of copy, 10 spaces per line. There were a limited number available, about 325. Only one brick per dedication. Proceeds were going to fund museum activities. Good luck, Ronny
Hi folks, My wife's late first husband was Henry Riddle, son of Henry Hampton Riddle (b.1893 Gorman, TX) , son of a Lorenzo Dow Riddle. We believe that last to be the ninth and youngest son of John Riddle of Owen County, KY, per 1850 census. I'm working to solidify and extend the links and go backwards if possible. A month ago, we attended a reunion of 80+ H.H. Riddle descendants and relations in San Diego, CA. I'm a Microsoft Access programmer and we live in the CA desert next to Palm Springs. Glad to have found you, John Weiser (with Catherine (Eubanks Exley) Riddle Weiser)

Hi Russ and All: I will take pictures and if they come out OK I will make copies at cost for anyone who wishes. Maybe we can post them on the Riddle photo site. In any event, I will let you know how it goes. I am looking forward to the visit to Wilkesboro and hope many others can make it. Ronny
Hi Carol: Thanks for the offer but it is my pleasure to provide this for Captain Riddle. I know you are a good distance from Wilkesboro and may not be able to make the trip. I plan to take a lot of pictures and will share them if they come out. Ronny
For all descendants of Captain William Riddle, this is a reminder of the Tory Oak Dedication in Wilkesboro, NC on Sep. 26, 1999. A brick has been ordered in honor of Captain Riddle. This brick will be inscribed "Capt. William Riddle" and will be a permanent part of the new wall built on the site of the old Tory Oak where Captain Riddle died fighting for beliefs that he held dear. Activities will begin at 1:30 PM and continue to 6:00 PM. The Tory Oak Dedication will be at 3:00 PM and rededication of the Civil War monument will be at 4:00 PM. There will be a Revolutionary War reenactment and demonstrations of Blacksmithing and other crafts. Hope to see many cousins there. Ronny Riddle
The 1886 Senate Journal includes a speech by Lt. Gov. A.P. Riddle in which he alluded to "pictures said to represent the father of the Republic and the young Commonwealth." Left unsaid was whether they were around when he gave his speech. Good Morning, this is cut from one of the articles that I was reading in the paper and thought might be of interest to someone. Marie ô¿ô Looking under every Rock!!
Bev, Good to hear from you. If you are a descendant of Capt. William Riddle (Troy) you have a lot of cousins that would like to hear from you. A lot of them post daily information about that Riddle family on the Riddle Family Discussion e-mail list. You can find out how to join that list by clicking on that item posted on the "Riddle's of Stokes County NC' web page. I have taken the liberty of adding my reply to you so the those good Riddle folks will see your message. The problem is that you must join to received the e-mail messages, so join them and have fun. You ask is Capt. William Riddle related to our Tyre, John or Randolph Riddle brothers from Stokes County? The answer is we don't know but several Riddle researchers are working on that issue and hope they can find out. We do know that Moses Riddle, the presumed father of Capt. William Riddle seems to show up in many of the areas that our three Riddle brother's seem to inhabit from time to time. Mary Hill of Salt Lake, UT is our expert on Capt. Riddle and I have also added her on for a copy of this message. If Catherine Fisher was about 7 foot tall I don't think that came form her Indian genes. My guess is that came from her Riddle (Viking/Norman) ancestors who settled in Scotland about 1100 AD. I have met a lot of Riddle women and some tend to be tall and have big feet which is also found in Norse females. I guess they had to learn to take care of themselves some where along way <G> You ask which Riddle Newsletters had articles about Capt. Bill Riddle? I don't remember which newsletters had which article but I think at least three issues have an article about him. Happy hunting! Hi, it's been awhile since I posted my elusive family so I am trying again to connect with some one before asking another genealogist for help. This will be the fourth one, see what I mean by elusive? Oh well, I know some of you are having the same problems. So here goes: RIDDLE, James Robert b.1840--I believe his father's name was William and he had a brother named John Flemming Riddle. John and James were together in a census in Sussex Co.,Virginia. John married Alma Jeannette Sheffield(b.abt.1848 in Sussex Co.,VA) in 1865 in Halifax Co.,N.C. I believe they lived in Sussex Co. and had eight children: John William Peyton-b.1866 m-Lena Cornett Martha Virginia-m--Flemming M. Fox George Riddle b. 1870 Everet Jefferson-b.1872 m--Mary Madell Vaughan James Thomas-b.1873 Junious Edward-1874-m--Rhoda Hayes Susan Lucretia--b.1879-m--Erastis Cornett Hattie Ruth-b.1888 m--Joseph Well John William Peyton ( believe called Peyton) Riddle m: Lena Jackson Cornett. John was a saw mill worker so children were born in different counties. 1- John Thomas 1889 2- Minnie Lee b.1891 m. Sam Towsend 3-Mamie Estell b.1893--m. Any information on Sarah Riddle Pyle 22-June-1807 Know Co.. KY is greatly appreciated. Her father was Edward Gant Pyle and her mother was Rosanna Mary McMahan.

Dear Group: I know I have posted this query to the board several times but, I thought I would keep trying. The following is from a list of people buried in the Bunton Cemetary located near Dale, Texas in Caldwell County. As you see, the list includes several Riddles including my grandfather, his parents and my gggrandmother. Her name was Lucinda Jane (Smith?) Riddle. I am stuck on my gggrandfather, a James Riddle who settled in Texas in 1861. He reportedly came from MO and was born around 1830. I have not located any record of his death although he seems to have passed away not long after the family arrived in TX. I have some information that suggests that he came from Joplin, MO although in the 1900 Caldwell County Census, my ggrandfather, James Alexander Riddle, reports that his father was born in Illinois. I suspect this whole group is somehow related - I think 3-sons settled in Caldwell County. I remain optimistic that someone else is out there researching this line. My job and family prevent me from putting as much energy into this as I would like. I am hoping for a lucky break. Regards, C.
