AL, his father was Alexander b. 1798 Stokes Co., TN, then it gets fuzzy - in obit of Benjamin it says his father was Alexander and great grandfather was Harmon. 1. Re: [RIDDLE-L] Susan(nah) Riddle/Nathaniel Wilson
    2. Hello, everyone! I am new to this list and am enjoying all the Riddle information exchanged on the list. Susannah Riddle (parents James?John? Riddle and Elizabeth Campbell?) and Nathaniel were my gr-gr-grandparents, married in Cumberland Co. PA in 1782. Details are few, but Susannah did have several siblings: Rebecca, John, Sarah, maybe others? Nathaniel was in the Rev. War. Have sketchy details on his family, too. Their daughter was Jane Campbell Wilson (b. 1808, KY), who married James William Steele in KY in 1826. They had 11 children, some born in Kentucky, some born in Indiana. Some died young, but most came to the Seattle area in 1864-1865 on a wagon train, departing from Centerville, Iowa. Seattle was a "young teenager" at the time.My line is through their son, Joseph William Steele (born 1842, Indiana;married Mertie Annette Miller, Seattle, 1886). There are lots of kinfolk (Steele/Wilson/Baxter/Patton) buried in Madison, Jefferson, Indiana area. I am eagerly looking forward to a brief 2-day visit to Madison on March 13-14. I can hardly wait!! Anyone on the list have Susan(nah) in their lines? Sherry Steele (Seattle)

    2. Hi Carolyn, I read your email about the Riddle brothers, James R. and John Riddle. I doubt they are the same brothers in my family but I do have a James Robert and John Flemming Riddle in my family. John was b. abt. 1835 and James was b. abt. 1840. I believe they were from around Henrico Co.,Va area. After the Civil War they both married and had families in Sussex Co.,Va. And after 8 years of research that is about as far as I have gotten. Even with the help of genealogists we could find no records anywhere we looked. I also have a ggrandfather, Joseph N. Riddle living in Henrico Co.,VA in 1850 census but not sure of relationship to the brothers. Do you know any of these names? Charlotte Armstrong

Most of my mother family do not know to much about the Riddles. Her sister and brother live in Elizabethton or Johnson City Tn. My mother knew more than her other family and she is now gone. 3. Riddle, ID is SW ID 12 miles from the Nevada border Old Hwy 51. Surrounded by The Riddle Ranches. Never stopped, buzzed right through on my one trip that way. Right easy to miss. I think the town was for sale once. Riddleton, TN is about 45miles (crow flies)ENE of Nashville. Haven't been there either. but I'm only sixty miles from there now. I'm still new to this research stuff, too. To expound on the THEORY. My dad says they didn't just all get up and go on a Thursday afternoon and kept going continuously until each one stopped at there respective places. This was spread out over 10-40 years 'fore some of them settled. FYI: My Streets and Trips just coughed up 6 other Riddle, FITB, USA and assorted other info. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, March 03, 2001 3:34 PM Subject: Re: [RIDDLE-L] Computer Problems Barge right in Robert. I think that is a very good theory regarding the Riddle towns and is one that should be looked into. I did not know there was a Riddleton, TN nor a Riddle, ID. All you cousins out there, let's check this out. Thanks Robert and keep barging in. 2. Mary, Rhea county Tennessee is abt two-three counties east of Tullahoma, Tennessee. Rhea county is north and slightly east of Chattanooga, Tennessee. If I remember correctly (that doesnt mean I do) Hwy 68 runs through there (well only part of it) try US Hwy 27 for Rhea county and US Hwy 41A for Tullahoma, Tenn. Which is in Coffee county Tennessee.

    2. Hi Mary: I guess I didn't read your post very well. I guess your John was a lot younger than my James and Terry Riddle. But, it is possible that your John is a later relation as I do not know who Terry's brothers and sisters were.
