Hey all I am hoping someone out there might have some info regarding my grandfather or his parents, I have my fingers crossed back here in Australia. My main reason (beside the family tree) to find this man is that my mother who is very sick, has never really known her father. I would dearly love to re-unite them both. OK, Robert Bruce Riddle was born in either 1917 or Jan 1918 in Montreal, Canada. His parents were James Aitcheson Riddle & Christine Sangster. I believe he may have been a Methodist as this was the church in which he got married, but cannot be sure here. In 1942 Robert was a cleaner in the Merchant Navy on board the SS Queen Elizabeth. I have found some info about the Queen Elizabeth, which gives me some of it's destinations, but it is far from comprehensive. Any info would be greatly appreciated !!!! Anyway gots my fingers crossed down here in Oz All the best Richard Logan

Robert, My line starts with Benjamin and Frances Hawkins Riddle and he was a son of Randolph and Jemimah but that is the proof I have been researching for and also Benjamin and Frances Hawkins Riddle's children which my great grandfather James B. Riddle was next to the last child. I have Benjamins will and where all the children got their land after he died, and the deeds to the selling of the land also. I copied all those while we were in Athens. Then I copied James B. and Mary Riddle marriage records. That is how I found out who the other children were. I felt like I had found a gold mine. Ha! On the next trip we found the cemetery and I sent the mayor a letter by email and he referred it to someone else and they contacted me and told me I had barely made the new cemetery book as they were reprinting it and now their places and names would be added. We then bought that book. But that is on the Reed side, James B. Riddle's wifes family. I also copied those wills and deeds while we were im Athens Tn. They lived close together. If we can help you locate any of your people let us know as we will try. If you write to Mary Hill on the list, she is in the LDS library she would probably help you also. She really knows what she is doing. Good luck. Eva Lou

Dear Robert, Thank you for this message that needs our urgent support. I was lucky to find a surname that I'm researching (Brown) and asked her - Rep. Dee BROWN about her genealogical roots..hehe!! I asked her to reconsider her veto of Bill 443 and the importance of preserving historical and genealogical documents. Hello Laura, I have William Baker RIDDLE b. Freeport, Stephenson Co., Illinois married to Elizabeth BROWN. It states that she was born in Lakevil, Mo. but I don't find that anywhere..they had one son named Harry Pickett RIDDLE b. 12-Jul-1890 Emporia, Lyon County, Kansas. Another son was Raymond R. RIDDLE. Harry P. RIDDLE may have been married first to an Elizabeth P. BURRIS also of Lyon County, Kansas before he married my Ggrandmother, Laura Anna GOODALE b. 12-Dec-1884 in Kansas. They lived in St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Mo. for many years before moving to Southern Calif. I am also ressearching the Riddle line and if you will go to the Google web and type in the name you are researching maybe you can find exactly what you are looking for. Go to keyword and type http://www.Google.com and when it comes up there wiill be an open window. You type in who you are looking for and it will bring up a bunch of Riddle families. You can scroll down through those. Good luck. wrakj
wrak I am pretty sure Jim Hartung and Mary Hill's Riddle line split further up , or the possibility of them being a different line of Riddle's altogether (in America) I have been to both their sites and they have a completely different set of "repeated names" (read passed down) Their Line traces back to SOUTH CAROLINA I believe. Mine were born Yankees for some odd reason. There is a Jim Hartung that can help you as he helped me quite a lot on mine when I was just beginning. I didn't even know how to ask properly about finding them. The computer was new to me about locating anything, even though I had worked on one before I retired it was strictly their program and nothing more. Any way I guess they took pity on me and told me where to look. I sent him an ancestry chart of my family and he put it on there. Also a Mary Hill has written a book and she works at the LDS library in Utah. She has really done a lot of research on the Riddle family. Another book!! No. wrak

The farthest back I can personally CONFIRM is Robert Lee Riddle in Green Castle, MO in1898-99. But I am just starting. I think the RANDOLPH RIDDLE in which you refer to is TYRE RIDDLE 's brother. He moved a little south and west with his family (TN) Please correct me if I'm wrong. >From what I found 'tis a stinking mess of Tyre, Asa,William, Robert, Lee, Randolph, John and a couple other masculine names.
