    2. Laura, Sorry...we are stuck on Samuel Riddle...we know his wife was born in MD and moved to KY but we don't know if they married in MD or KY. Sam could have been from MD, or a local in KY, or even from VA. We know the two of them moved west to MO in the 1830's with a group of other families connected in one way or another to his wife's family, the Clarvos. Those families, the Leakes, Elliotts, Mudd, Gough, and Arnetts had a great number of intermarriages. For all we know, Sam was an orphan! Sue

    3. Sue, My John Riddle was born 1798 in MD. One wife that we know of was Mary born 1800 in NC. Merrideth (John's son) was born 1837 in Indiana. 3. It is entirely possible. We only know of one child...Merrideth (as he spelled it) or Marida (as in one census report) to M. M. or Monroe. John's wife was Mary, and alledgedly at one point he may have been married to a Sarah Lundry, but we have not found proof of that, either. Merrideth was born 1837, and John was born 1798 and Mary was born 1800. Is it possible that you could see anyone with those ages with your John Riddell? 3. Good Morning Riddle's. I'm sure enjoying all the chat going on for the last couple of days. My Riddle family doesn't go back very far at this time but still a mystery to me. My father insists that our family is somehow related to "the rich Riddle's in Kentucky" but I've only picked up the line in Freeport, Stephenson Co., Illnois with William Baker RIDDLE and spouse Elizabeth BROWN. Their son was born in 1890, Kansas and they named him Harry Pickett RIDDLE. I have a feeling that the middle names of Baker and Pickett are some kind of clue but I haven't seen anyone posting with either of those as surnames. Anyway, Harry P. Riddle may have first been married to Elizabeth P. BURRIS, of Kansas and 2nd. to my gGrandmother, Anna Laura GOODALE. The GOODALE's spent time in St. Joseph, Buchanan Co., Missouri and if anyone has access to Missouri marriages would they mind looking up to find the marriage date for me? They are both buried in the Sierra Madre Pioneer Cemetery in Los Angeles County, Calif. Does anyone have some "lost" Riddle's that went up north from Kentucky and then out west? Thank you, Marie LC ~No Matter where you go... There you are~ -Austin Powers-

    2. Laura...in regards to your question on John Henry- he was the son of Samuel and Anna/Nancy Clarvo Riddle- born June 28, 1830 in White Sulphur, KY- moved to Ralls County, MO with his family shortly there after. Married Jane Arnett in 1859 in Scotland County, MO. They lived for awhile in Iowa but later settled in Downing, MO. They had two children- Henry Frank and Madie- both died young. Jane died in 1910 and John Henry in 1915- both in Downing, MO. Mike and I struggled long and hard to find him. Now we are hoping some one out there can give us some help with Samuel! Sue Larson

    3. This is so weird...I have a John H. Riddle, born 1798 MD in Iron County, MO, in the 1860 census. They moved there during the early 1850's. His son, Merrideth Munrough Riddel was a doctor (went to school somewhere), and was married in 1856 in Madison County Mo. John died at 86 years of age. M. M.'s first son was John Franklin Riddel born 1857 and died in infancy. His second son was Samuel Rufus McKnight Riddle. He was born 1868 in Iron County, MO. There was another Riddle in Iron County (Union Township) in 1870 by the name of David and wife Anne. We think he may also be related. Most of the family moved to Randolph County in the mid 1870's and Samuel married in 1898. They moved back to Ripley Co., MO and their first born son was also John Franklin, who died in infancy. 3. Hi everyone" All you have to do is enter "Antique Bottles" on the address and about 15 more sites will come up. From those sites are many links. The list changes daily. There are some unbelievable prices on various old bottles. I am living in Reston, Va, at the present. I am orlginally from Yancey County, Burnsville, North Carolina. We are moving back there for this 3 radio shortwave project, plus another project in the making. We are surounded here with internet companies which are dying off like flies. WinStar just laid off 2,000 people down the street from us. My son was with Netel last year that went bankrupt. The economy is in a down-shaking mode but I think the US is OK. You can't take it with you--remember, my grandfather was a Riddle, and if it had been possible, he would have had a UHaul behind the casket. My grandfather lost a penny one night and was out scratching in the dark hunting for it. I asked, "Do you want a flashlight?" "No" he replied, "The moon will be up in a few minutes!" 2. Hello Charles, Glad you wrote to the list. This particular bottle with Man O War picture on it and is encircled with a gold circle has 1849 on the glass cover on it. I also have another old bottle and I feel sure it is an old whiskey bottle that someone threw out in one of our pastures. Any way I kept it and still have it also. Would you mind telling me how to get to the old bottle site. Would love to see it. This is a very unusual bottle especially the lid with 1849 molded when the lid was fired. How do I get to the site? Where are you from? Nosey ole me! :) wrakj

    1. [RIDDLE-L] Isaac RIDDLE & Hannah LongStreet Blackstone Riddle
    2. Connie Perdue
    3. My g-g-grandmother was Hannah Longstreet Blackstone. My grandmother was Alice Marie Riddle, daughter of William Edward Riddle (son of Hannah and Isaac) from Mt. Pleasant. I am still looking on more info on the Blackstone line if any of the Riddle cousins have any information. I think that Hannah's father was Richard Blackstone and I have recently found a Richard Blackstone that lived in Mississippi after the Civil War. I believe this was one of Hannah's brothers that supposedly died in the Civil War. I know this Riddle line is well documented but I would enjoy hearing from any cousins. Thanks, Connie Wallace Perdue in Austin, Texas
