New virus' are coming on line as well as the Badtrans.B is still going strong. Reminders: 1. If you are using McAfee as your AV program AND have OE v 5.5 or Less AND do not have all current MS patches installed you WILL NOT be protected from ANY virus. Even thou McAfee detects and warns that you have received a virus, it will not protect you from it and you will be infected ,,, even thou you select the Delete or Move options in the McAfee warning box, McAfee does not accomplish either and the second the warning box closes you will be infected ,,,, if you DO have all MS patches installed, when the McAfee box closes, a "Opening an Attachment" warning box will pop up and ask what do you want to do, options are: Open, Save or Cancel ,,,, be sure you choose "Cancel", this will stop the virus .. at this point press Shift+Delete , this will safely and completely get rid of the virus msg.. NOTE: the instructions above apply ONLY to OE 5.5 or Less users with McAfee . 2. For any incoming mail that appears to be from one of your Rootsweb Lists, look at the "To:" line ,, if it is truly from a Rootsweb list, it WILL have the full Rootsweb List address there and is safe to read ,,,, if it does NOT have the full Rootsweb List address in the "To:" line, then it is NOT from Rootsweb but from an infected member on that list OR was sent to you in private, either way, you are on your own about what to do.
