Franklin is west of Boston, going towards Worcester. It was incorporated in 1778, used to be part of Wrentham, Medfield, Medway and Norfolk, I think. It's on route 495, about 10-15 miles west of interstate 95. Can't think of much there now, that you might now. A few colleges, and new industry and housing has replaced much of the old farmland. ----- Original Message ----- From: Jerry & Carolyn Ott<mailto:jc.ott@verizon.net> To: RICHARDSON-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:RICHARDSON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 01, 2005 2:49 PM Subject: Re: [RICHARDSON] Re: RICHARDSON-D Digest V05 #11 Thanks for the info. Is Franklin near Boston? Also how big is Franklin? Quite a few more in the NH area. One note: Richardson's brought the Cordwainer trade with them from England, and the house that my grandfather was born in (Franklin, MA) has the remains of a shoe making shop still in the basement. I'm told that a Cordwainer is a shoe craftsman, not to be confused with a Cobbler, or repairman. There are Societies of Cordwainer's to this day. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Jerry & Carolyn Ott<mailto:jc.ott@verizon.net<mailto:jc.ott@verizon.net>> > To: RICHARDSON-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:RICHARDSON-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:RICHARDSON-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:RICHARDSON-L@rootsweb.com>> > Sent: Sunday, February 27, 2005 10:54 PM > Subject: Re: [RICHARDSON] Re: RICHARDSON-D Digest V05 #11 > > > I do not know if Adoniram had any connections to the Firearms company or > not. > > Adoniram was born near Boston around 1805.........spent his childhood in New > Hampshire..........brought his parents to Indiana where he spent his active > manhood...................he went to Vermilion Co.
