This is an old post from last Nov, describing the answer to the Male Female question, and giving you the contact person for the Richardson DNA project. There are studies for females, but I'm not sure a Richardson project exists for that. You will also find a link that takes you to a registration page for this DNA project. The number of participants has greatly increased, but I'm sure there is plenty of room for more! ----- Original Message ----- From: Xanadu92@direcway.com<mailto:Xanadu92@direcway.com> To: RICHARDSON-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:RICHARDSON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 30, 2004 9:16 AM Subject: [RICHARDSON] Richardson-2 DNA Project Bert, thanks for your concise explanation. And LISTERS, thanks for your interest. My mailbox is full this morning. As Bert reiterated, the Y-Chromosome genes (markers) are present only in the male gender. They are passed from father to son and so on in direct line of descent. Therefore, the TEST SUBJECT must be male. To participate in the Richardson-2 DNA Project, the TEST SUBJECT must be a Richardson male. Being a female Richardson descendant, it was necessary for me to persuade a cousin to be the TEST SUBJECT to establish the DNA results for the project. Participants in the Richardson-2 DNA Project, reside, literally, from "coast to coast." The Richardson-2 DNA Project is a GLOBAL, world wide project. The whole POINT of the project is to PROVE ancestry using DNA. All too often the traditional paper trail just simply vanishes. When traditional research avenues vanish, far too many folks are left without an avenue to prove their ancestors beyond a certain point. We welcome international participation; all U.S. citizens have an immigrant ancestor in their heritage. We all want to learn from whence we came. DNA testing will be the ONLY ANSWER for many, many people. As Bert said, if you have questions about the project or the process, email me. I'll be more than happy to assist you. If you wish to participate by joining the Richardson-2 DNA project, click on the following link. Ladies, you may join the project as a participant by ordering a kit for a Richardson male. The test is painless - a simple swab inside the cheek.
