I have no doubt that we/they firmly believe that they were receiving a virus from the list email ,,, but the big question here is was the email being sent to them from & by RootsWeb ,,, and the key words are "sent by RootsWeb". Many, many times this argument has come up and every time they have been proved wrong when the full headers were examined to determine who the true sender was. The sending ISP is the one thing that cannot be faked and it is always contained in the headers of every email. Who are the "We/They" you refer to ,,,, if they are members of the list, then they could not get rid of any virus contained within the software at RootsWeb as they do not have nor can they gain access to RootsWeb's software. ,,,,, it is true that two or more list members could collaborate to determine who it was that was infected and then help that person get rid of the virus, but only the RootsWeb engineers could clean out a virus in their own software. If there is still one of those infected emails from the Lewis or Bishop lists laying around, forward it to me and I will run a scan on the true senders DNS number to see who it really is. I received an infected email from one of our list members tonight. <g> ,,, it is the W32/BadTrans @MM virus. ,,,, and it came as a list message.
