    1. Richardson Homestead, Franklin
    2. Gary Richardson
    3. Many towns have published house assessments/appraisals on line in recent years. The Town of Franklin is one of them, and this listing is one of two Richardson Homesteads still standing in town. The date of construction for the home on Lincoln Street shows as 1825, but it was actually built in 1744, and an addition built in 1825. The present owner is named Locke, and they are the 3rd family to own the property. It passed into the Adams family when Clarissa Day Richardson married Peter Adams in 1841. Previously, it belonged to Elisha Richardson, and was built next to a home on what is now called Skyline Drive. If you compare the two photographs, you'll note a very similar style for both homes. This home has been identified in some history books as "The Richardson Homestead", but the Skyline Drive home is the true ancestral home. The properties are on the Franklin/Norfolk, MA line, in an area known as City Mills back in the day. At that time, the farms were several hundreds of acres in size, and often subdivided for various family members. A separate posting will follow, with the true Homestead. http://franklin.patriotproperties.com/Summary.asp?AccountNumber=10630<http://franklin.patriotproperties.com/Summary.asp?AccountNumber=10630>

    3. Sorry, the construction date for this home was 1774, not 1744. If you're wondering about a town that you have an interest in, I would recommend placing a call to the Town Assessor, and asking if their assessments are on line. I'm in the mortgage business, and find these sites very helpful in determining an approximate value for a home. Many appraisers will use the information for their work, as well, as the online data is usually produced from the "field card", which records the measurements, style of home, gross living area and so forth, for a given property. ----- Original Message ----- From: Gary Richardson<mailto:gar3131@msn.com> To: RICHARDSON-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:RICHARDSON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, February 25, 2005 9:35 PM Subject: [RICHARDSON] Richardson Homestead, Franklin Many towns have published house assessments/appraisals on line in recent years. 3. Looks like the email gods changed the link just a bit. I think that if you hit the "Search" button, you'll be able to select the property listing for 844 Lincoln Street, and that will bring you to the property listing that I attempted to forward. Same for the next post, except the address is 6 Skyline Drive. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I forwarded it to myself first, and it seemed to work. If all else fails, go to the website for Patriotproperties, select the Massachusetts property valuations, click on the Franklin link, and then enter Skyline or Lincoln in the address search bar. Then find 6 Skyline Drive or 844 Lincoln Street. If you have difficulty, email me at gar3131@msn.com<mailto:gar3131@msn.com> and I'll guide you through the process.
