From a letter I received from the archivist of the Bank of Montreal dated 8 November 2005: "William Richardson Entered service at Québec in June 1854, was a Teller at Belleville (ON) in 1857. Between 1859 and 1860 held several positions at HO (Montréal) before becoming an Agent in Cobourg, St. Mary’s, Waterloo, Goderich (all branches in the Province of Ontario). In 1869, W. Richardson is Manager of our St. John (NB) branch, and in 1871 he is the Manager of our Chicago branch. He resigned in July 1876 when in office at Chicago. Robert Richardson Entered service in Kingston in 1845; in 1857 he is an Agent in our Port Hope office; in 1860, he is transferred to Perth; in 1865 he is posted in Peterborough, and in 1870 he is transferred in Belleville, where he held the position of Manager at Belleville Branch. All the branches where he worked are in the Province of Ontario." There was also a picture from a bank newsclipping of William Richardson in front of the temporary offices of the Bank shortly after the Chicago Fire in 1871. If anyone connects to either of these Richardsons, please let me know, Happy Thanksgiving, Erica Erica Dakin Voolich President The Somerville Mathematics Fund, an Affiliate of Dollars for Scholars Winner of the 2003-2004 Golden Tassel Service Award We celebrate and encourage mathematics achievement in Somerville MA ! http://www.somervillemathematicsfund.org Somerville Math Fund
