    1. William RICHARSON and Robert RICHARDSON, in Canada
    2. Since I first wrote this list, I have found out some more information on my William RICHARDSON. Maybe it will now connect with another family. Robert RICHARDSON married Sarah ALLEN. He was listed as a shoemaker when his son was born. They were living in Quebec City, Canada when son William was born, 5 November 1835, baptized Weslyan Methodist. [the family story is that the Richardson family came from Belfast, but I don't know which generation or when. Also, Robert's father MIGHT be Thomas]. I do not know if they had any other children, but Sarah died 28 Jan 1843 (b. abt 1815) and Robert remarried Harriet BIRCH in 1843. Son William worked for the Bank of Montreal from 1854, being posted to Quebec, numerous towns in Ontario and then to New Brunswick before going to Chicago right after the fire in 1871 where he was bank manager until 1876. While in Belleville Ontario he married Mary BOGART. They had five children: William (16 Feb 1862 -?) Harry Bogart (27 Sept 1863- 1 June 1932) Grace (20 July 1865 - 11 Nov 1925) Minnie (29 Apr 1867 - 30 Aug 1877) Frederick (abt 1869 -?) Thyra (31 Jan 1873 - 12 Aug 1911) The Bank of Montreal Archives generously shared the information they had on his employment. There was another Richardson, Robert, who was also employed by the bank in Belleville Canada starting a few years before. I do not know how or if he is related to my RICHARDSON. Maybe brother or cousin to William (son of Robert). If he fits into someone else's family, I'll pass along the bank employment information. thanks, Erica Dakin Voolich

    3. You'll find that many of the Richardson's who were "shoemakers" were known as cordwainers. While the term is no longer all that active, there are still Cordwainer Guilds in existence. Possibly another source of information about the Richardson ancestry. If I understand it correctly, a cobbler is more of a repairman for shoes, while the cordwainer creates them in the first place.
