Hello, I am new to this list and need to know if there is a Skip Richardson researcher out there. I need to ask you some questions about his family. Hope to hear from someone who may know a little about him. Gay Nix Gay Nix warpaint1128@sbcglobal.net
Hello, Gay. I cannot actually call myself a "Skip Richardson researcher," but the authors of the Richardson appendix in the book The Collie Family of Pittsylvania County, Virginia (This is a part of the longer title.), Betty Cox Collie and Robert King, think that my Pittsylvania Co. ancestor, John Richardson, was the son of Thomas Richardson II and Lucy Thompson (?), grandson of Thomas Richardson, Sr. and Mary Cruse/Crews (?). and greatgrandson of Skip Richardson and Margaret ___? John Richardson married Rebecca Jennings in Pittsylvania Co. in 1814 and moved his family to Gibson Co. in west Tennessee in the 1830's. I also thought that the given name "Skip" was odd for that early a period. Their footnote on p736 says that "His unusual first name is suggestive that one of his maternal ancestors might have been a Skipworth, which is a well-known English surname." All I know about Skip Richardson comes from this book, but I, too, am interested in learning more about him, particularly anything that will help to document that John Richardson's descent from him is correct. Kathy-- I too have some Virginia Richardsons in my background and believe that I have seen a "Skip" or "Skipwith" in my readings. Right now I cannot remember where, but I will send it should I find it again. Lynda ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kathy S. Also Kathy-- You might want to put your request on the VA-Southside list. Some very capable researchers on that site. Lynda ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kathy S.
