    3. Patrick J. Janis has a Rootsweb database, with 81 Richardson's, although no Allen. He appears to be a researcher dedicated to Czech and Moravian history, as evidenced by his personal webpage. 3. Seaman is one of the family names who married into my Pearsall line. Although it's a surname, it's not unusual to see it as a first name, often in recognition of an ancestor. 3. I cannot believe the whining and negativity that has been the response to the person who accidentally sent the joke. My first impression was that it was in fact an accident. Did anyone think to look at the address list of whom the joke was sent? The Richardson list administrator if anyone should have immediately realized it was an accident. Anytime something happens where there is a list response, I get all the emails of these responses which is much more annoying than the joke itself. Maybe the "reactors" should have read it thoroughly to begin with to see that this person sent it to an address list that wasn't even part of the Richardson list. I think everyone that responded so coldly to the person who accidentally sent the joke should put out an apology. Obviously nobody researched and did the homework before expressing their opinions. Think before you write. 3. You mentioned Richardson in Franklin, Ma. I am looking for info on Adoniram J. Richardson (called A.J.) born about 1800 in Ma.......he grew up around Boston.....married Mariah (Maria) Taylor in N.H. .............I believe his son was George Thomas Richardson born in N.H. probably in the 1820's. I do not know where they were in Ma or N.H. They later appear in Eugene, Indiana. George married Malinda Town in Indiana...(.they were my great great grandparents) their daughter Emma F. was born in Vermilion Co., Illinois around 1850.....she married Isaiah Wilson in Vermilion Co......they moved to Missouri ......and eventually they were in Scott Co. Arkansas. A.J. and family also moved to Vermilion Co. Illinois. Census showed that George was a physician. His second wife was Harriett Hall and his third wife was Isabel Henthorn. Gary, by the way, I would never accept from my college students the old excuse that the dog ate my paper.................however we had a new dog and I was rather embarrassed when returning papers to one of my classes when I returned a rather chewed and mangled up paper to one of my students and had to tell him that my DOG REALLY DID IT!!!!!! 3. Seamon Brazil Richardson was the son of Samuel K. Richardson that I'm hunting. Perhaps Seamon's grandfather was a sea going fellow. Good Idea's . Seamon/Seaman I see it spelled both ways. But in his Obit; it is Seaman B. I'll look in to the Seaman/Seamon as last names also. my be worth starting a mail list for. Thanks all Margrett

    3. Here goes: John Warren Richardson (1839-1930) was the last of the Richardson's to own the Richardson Homestead in Franklin, MA, which he sold in 1895 to move to Boulder, CO. He also was the 7th John in 8 generations (dating back to John Richardson (b 1615/17 in Stepney Ratcliffe, England and Hannah Truair) and there are still two more John Richardson's from that line, currently living in Boulder. A little aside: The Boulder Historical library has an outstanding research service, from which I received all sorts of information, newspaper clippings, and even two automobile titles belonging to John Warren and family, from their time in Boulder. I sent them a 30 page story that John wrote about a 7 week trek through the Colorado Mountains in 1896, back when gold and silver were still actively being mined, and the ski areas had yet to "tame" the area, which they have archived for posterity. When John moved west, not all of the family went with him, including my great great grandfather, William Stephen Richardson, who was married to Sarah Metcalf Allen. Rather than leave Franklin, the couple moved in with Sarah's parents, Thomas Bacon Allen and Martha Miller Metcalf, in their home on Union Street in Franklin, which is still standing. The house was in the Richardson family until 1963, when Sarah Allen Richardson passed away. Since then, only two more families have owned the former Allen Homestead, and the current owners have been happy to share what they know about the house, and it's former occupants. Apparently, Martha Allen died in the home. The owners tell me that she now 'haunts' the house, and has done so for years. If she does not approve of a guest or visitor, she lets them know! And, growing up, the children of the current family had a favorite expression, whenever anything unusual or unexplainable took place: "Martha Allen did it"!, they would shout gleefully. The thought of my great great great grandmother still "living" has been a fascination, ever since I heard the story... With my middle name coming from her family, I can't help but feel more than a casual connection with Martha. Gary Allen Richardson

    3. When I first read the posts about jokes, I thought you were all referring to my response to the "Test" posting.... Sure am glad it wasn't me! I have to agree, as jokes go, there are better versions of that one circulating, but, none belong on this type of list, even in error. However, this has generated a much greater response than anything else submitted to the list! Perhaps it would be wise to phrase your genealogy questions in the form of a joke! "Did you hear the one about the two Richardson's named Elisha....." (I think you get the idea). Gary Allen Richardson I actually have a pretty good story about one of my Allen ancestors, in the home that became a Richardson house in Franklin, MA. If you're interested.

    3. I have two sets of Richardsons, and I am trying to discover if they belong together, as well as moving further back. Elizabeth Ann Richardson (1823 in Kentucky-1894 in Marion Co., Iowa) married Joshua Lyon. I show that her father was F. W. Richardson - perhaps from Maryland; and her mother was Sarah, born abt 1798 in Maryland. My other Richardson family is thus: Father's name unknown to me, but mother is also a Sarah, born (according to census records) in Kentucky. They had the following children born in Kentucky (but later moved to Marion Co., Iowa): Harriett Elinor (1825) Mary Catherine (married Henry Blevins) Anna Maria (1827) Any information to solve my problem or to move me back further in the line would be appreciated. Lenore
