Dear Margrett: Been reading your posts to this list, as I just "lurk" mostly on it! My notebook of looseleaf handwritten pages, isn't handy, but recollect my Richardson's ancestor was Reuler/Ruler/Rooler Richardson, of VA..........1730, I think? fyi Good luck in your continuing research for Richardson ancestors. Dear Idella: My father, Robert Gilbert RICHARDSON was born there in 1894, but his ancestor, R.S. Richardson, that moved to AL, was born in GA in 1830. Any connection? My main thought in the question was to find someone who had a Richardson line that moved into PA., especially the western section of the state. I am looking for the parents of my ggrandfather Wayne Kennedy Richardson, born in PA in 1854. He states that his parents were also born in PA. I have been searching all over the western counties and have failed to come up with Wayne earlier than the 1880 census in Washington County, PA. Can't imagine why he isn't showing up earlier? Ron
Winton L. Richardson and a younger brother Jesse J. Richardson was living in Graham, Carter county Oklahoma in 1930. These brothers were living with their parents at this time. Their mothers first and middle initial was Marie B. (Maiden name Unknown) Winton & Jesse was born in early 1920's in Oklahoma. Jesse J. possibly grew up & settled somewhere in Texas. Winton L. onced lived in New Jersey. Does anybody know of these Richardson brothers, and where they might be today? I hope so. Thanks Don

Pretty general question. Is there a particular Richardson family you're interested in knowing about? I would think it might be important to know what part of PA, too for anyone to be able to answer that question. Try a Rootsweb.com search for Richardson, with the state being PA, and nothing else. See what you come up with, and if it's not too many responses, you may be able to get a reasonable answer that way.
Can anyone in this Richardson crowd tell me about when and whom of the Richardson's moved into PA? Thanks Ron Richardson
Several Betsey's in the line, none of whom seem to be your Betsey Richardson Jones. There are two Rootsweb files with Betsey and Joseph, one by Dave Ross (Titled "Dave's Database") and another by Keasha LeClear (Titled "Katie"). These focus on the Jones family, however. Dave's follows the Jones family well back into England, and mention that John Jones died in Chautauqua, NY, which matches your info. Keasha has a child named Simon Jones, b. 1814, and follows that line for many generations, but I'm wondering if the connection with Betsey and Joseph Jones is correct. Wish I could be more helpful with the Richardson line. However, there are numerous lines in MA, not all of which are related, as I seem to discover on almost a daily basis.... Gary Allen Richardson

It did it again. The mailing list is adding "http://www.patriotproperties.com/>" to the address I typed, and because of the < > symbols, it makes it look like the URL does not work. So, you'll have to manually type in Patriotproperties.com or Visionappraisal.com and get there that way. Sorry. ----- Original Message ----- From: Gary Richardson<mailto:gar3131@msn.com> To: RICHARDSON-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:RICHARDSON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, February 26, 2005 7:55 AM Subject: Re: [RICHARDSON] This may be a better link to the Richardson Homestead For some reason, when I send the link to the list, it adds more content the the URL. I forwarded a copy to myself, first, to make sure it worked, and didn't have a problem. But you're correct, you can try typing in the "working" part of the address manually, and access the website in that manner. If all else fails, go to www.patriotproperties.com<http://www.patriotproperties.com/<http://www.patriotproperties.com<http://www.patriotproperties.com/>> and click on the "Online Property Search" link in the upper left hand corner. You'll find a list of towns served by this appraiser (could be you'll find some other towns of interest as well!) and you need to click on Franklin. At the top of this page, you'll see a Search by (Street) box. Enter either "Lincoln" or "Skyline". (Sometimes if you enter the entire address, with #, it does not find the property). You will then find all the homes on either of those streets. Locate 844 Lincoln St, and/or 6 Skyline Drive, and that will bring you (finally!) to the two links I attempted to forward. A similar website may be found at www.visionappraisal.com<http://www.visionappraisal.com/<http://www.visionappraisal.com<http://www.visionappraisal.com/>> In the upper right hand corner of their site, you'll find a link to the Assessor's Online Database, which will bring you to the page where you may search appraisals in all 6 New England states, plus Virginia (only two towns in VA so far). They do not have every town in every state, but there are quite a few, and more added all the time. Some of the towns will require you to give your email address and set up a password, but there is no cost for access, and it can be a very helpful tool, especially if you're trying to find out more regarding a particular property in a town that is on line. I would think that there are more services, similar to these two, in other parts of the country. In my own town of Warwick, RI, the town maintains it's own site, with the same type of info, as does Providence. If you happen to know a real estate appraiser in the town or towns you are researching, he or she may be able to guide you to the appropriate website for that town, or you might just search for Online appraisals or assessments for a city or town, and see what comes up. Sorry for such a long post, but it seems this type of information could be quite useful for much more than simply "my" two Richardson homes. I think they are good examples of the possibilities, however, as I was able to confirm the approximate dates of construction for these two Homesteads, and when I compared the photographs and sketches, I realized that even after the alterations had been made to the homes in question, there was no doubt that they were built in the same style originally, confirming that the same family was involved with both. It also gave me names of the current owners, both of whom have been very helpful, and interested, in sharing Richardson information, and the ownership history since it passed out of family ownership. I think I mentioned, that after checking other properties in the same part of Franklin, I was able to locate one more home built in the early 1700's. I wrote to the owner, and it turns out that they had already been researching the deed, and gotten as far back as 1850, with what turned out to be quite a number of different owners. They matched up their ownership list with my Rootsweb database, and found a number of owners who were related to Richardson's, if not actually of the surname Richardson, and I'm attempting to help them now by providing more info about the early owners. ----- Original Message ----- From: John R<mailto:jrichard2000@earthlink.net<mailto:jrichard2000@earthlink.net>> To: RICHARDSON-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:RICHARDSON-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:RICHARDSON-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:RICHARDSON-L@rootsweb.com>> Sent: Friday, February 25, 2005 10:26 PM Subject: Re: [RICHARDSON] This may be a better link to the Richardson Homestead Gary, the URL is too long just to link on. Looks like the email gods changed the link just a bit. I think that if you hit the "Search" button, you'll be able to select the property listing for 844 Lincoln Street, and that will bring you to the property listing that I attempted to forward. Same for the next post, except the address is 6 Skyline Drive. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I forwarded it to myself first, and it seemed to work. If all else fails, go to the website for Patriotproperties, select the Massachusetts property valuations, click on the Franklin link, and then enter Skyline or Lincoln in the address search bar. Then find 6 Skyline Drive or 844 Lincoln Street. If you have difficulty, email me at gar3131@msn.com<mailto:gar3131@msn.com> and I'll guide you through the process. The Town of Franklin is one of them, and this listing is one of two Richardson Homesteads still standing in town. The date of construction for the home on Lincoln Street shows as 1825, but it was actually built in 1744, and an addition built in 1825. The present owner is named Locke, and they are the 3rd family to own the property. It passed into the Adams family when Clarissa Day Richardson married Peter Adams in 1841. Previously, it belonged to Elisha Richardson, and was built next to a home on what is now called Skyline Drive. If you compare the two photographs, you'll note a very similar style for both homes. This home has been identified in some history books as "The Richardson Homestead", but the Skyline Drive home is the true ancestral home. The properties are on the Franklin/Norfolk, MA line, in an area known as City Mills back in the day. At that time, the farms were several hundreds of acres in size, and often subdivided for various family members. A separate posting will follow, with the true Homestead. http://franklin.patriotproperties.com/Summary.asp?AccountNumber=10630<http://franklin.patriotproperties.com/Summary.asp?AccountNumber=10630<http://franklin.patriotproperties.com/Summary.asp?AccountNumber=10630<http://franklin.patriotproperties.com/Summary.asp?AccountNumber=10630>> ==== RICHARDSON Mailing List ==== To use the Richardson Query Board: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=surnames.richardson<http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=surnames.richardson> To review Archived messages: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/RICHARDSON-L<http://archiver.rootsweb.com/RICHARDSON-L>
