    3. Hi! I'm glad to hear from you, though I have only lived in Windsor for 13 years. I was born and raised in Lawrence, Mass. just 15 minutes from Lowell. I do have a paperback copy of the Richardson memorial which contains more than a few errors, but it's still invaluable, especially with how much work he put into it. I found my tree in the basement when I was 10 and kept it in a box since I thought it looked important. Once I bought a pc genealogy program about 8 years ago this hobby took off like a rocket. One of my sisters asked when i'd be "done". i said....uh...never? My dad and his mother were only children so any Richardson cousins would be distant :) My Ezekiel came over in 1630 with the Winthrop fleet, I'm sure they're the same. Great to hear from you! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gary Richardson" <gar3131@msn.com> To: <RICHARDSON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 04, 2005 7:26 PM Subject: RE: [RICHARDSON] Richardson Line > Susan, I also "inherited" a family tree from a past relative, who had > taken the "Richardson Memorial", and updated it to include recent family > members after the Vinton work was published. 3. Susan, I also "inherited" a family tree from a past relative, who had taken the "Richardson Memorial", and updated it to include recent family members after the Vinton work was published. He added photos and stories about his own branch of the family, and it made for a great starting point. There was one family member who had moved away when he was younger, and while they knew that he was in mid-career in the MD area, no one had heard from him in a number of years. One of the biggest thrills of my short time dabbling in genealogy was to finally track down an email address for him, and have him respond! We've since traded a number of stories, and I've learned about 4 more cousins I never knew I had, one of whom lives a few miles from a cousin I did know, out in Seatlle. If your Ezekiel Richardson is who I think he is, we may share a common ancestor back in England. While yours were living in Lowell and Dracut, mine were building mills and farming down in Franklin (or Medway, before they called it Franklin). I also went to high school in the town next to yours, So Windsor, more than just a few years ago. Most of what I know about Richardson's that may overlap with your family will be found in that Vinton work. If you haven't already found a copy for your own use, I recommend you do so. The CD versions are much easier to read through, and you can always print out the sections that apply. And if it turns out we are "long lost cousins", there are still 5 Richardson's in So Windsor who are related, as well, including my father, brother and his 3 kids. Gary Allen Richardson Warwick, RI

    3. John, spent some time going through Myrna's research, http:freepages.genealogy,rootsweb.com/~crapomyrn/richards/names.htm, but no luck on your family. Went through my file and you probably have more info than I do. Limited research on John and Leatice. I have the text of Thomas Morgin's will. Wish I could have helped more. If anyone runs across Randolph Richardson, b1730, Bedford County, VA, let me know. I have hit that brick wall. Can't seem to get back any further.

    3. Hi Pam, that is one of the problems with being descended from the poor Richardsons. Very few records on our family and what few there are are very hard to find as they moved every couple of years. And it seems each generation had numerous Johns and Marys. 3. Hello fellow list members. As some of you know there have been major strides in genealogy searches in the last few years. I have recently tried one. The www.FamilytreeDNA.com project Has been very successful. There are now 23 completed Richardson test with the following results:I have a perfect match on the 25 test with three other people. Two are Richardsons about 10 generations down the line and my match to them proves my record to that time. This went up the line to John Richardson b. abt 1720 and down another of his sons to the two individuals. We had many other records to prove this also. This test also showed that another family member is not related. I also have a perfect match to another surname family which obviously has a Richardson connection that I am are not aware of yet. We have matches for three others, another match of three, a match of two, another of three, and two others with no matches yet. There a total of seven different Richardson lines to date. More test are in process. We have a list director who can give you more information. The web site above has much information included. Her address is: xanadu92@direcway.com I am not promoting this lab and have no financial interest in it. There are at least two others doing this type of work. My sole interest in to furthur our Richardson research. It has worked well for me and I think it would help all of you. The Y chromosome test is for males only. Females can participate by having a known male relative tested. There is a female test but it is more expensive and time consuming. Thanks to our list administrator for allowing this to be posted and for the many ways the list has helped over the years. Just keep up the good work. 3. I don't have much on John. I have been to Carroll County a couple of times and have located the area where I believe they owned property. It is interesting to just drive around and think that my ancestors once probably walked these roads and farms those fields I am looking at. I found an old Richardson cemetery in the area and it is no doubt where many Richardsons were buried but there was no stone for him. There was a small community named Richardson north of Hillsville and a road still there by the name of Richardson Road. That is the area where they once lived. I think a few descendents still live near there but was unable to contact any of them. At the historical society in Hillsville they have an old wall cabinet that once belonged to a Richardson, but probably not as far back of Old John. Do you have Alderman's book "Carroll 1765-1815, The Settlements"? It is full of information and probably as accurate an account as there is. Alderman was a Carroll County historian and spent numerous hours researching the facts for the book I have tried to determine which Richardsons are which and how they are all related and IF they are all related. There were several Richardsons in Bedford County Virginia, which I have also traveled to. I don't know the connection to them. Old John's wife was Letitia Morgan, daughter of Thomas Morgan, and ???( possibly Evans, possibly Talbot). Old Thomas Morgan lived in Bedford County Va and owned quite a large area of land and had many descendents. This is one reason I thought the Richardsons of Bedford were related to the Richardsons of Carroll. I have visited that area and found where the old cemetery was (I did not go back to it because of overgrowth). There is a Morgan Baptist Church and a Morgan Road still there and some other interesting sites. Thomas Morgan died in 1774 as legend goes from an Indian arrow to the heart. Maybe it was a bullet. Anyway he was supposedly standing in the door of his mill when this happened. He left a will and Letitia Richardson was named in the will along with about 17 other kids. He had two wives it is believed. Some say they were sisters, but I have not been able to prove who his wives were. The second one was named either Hester or Ester. She, I don't think was the mother of Letitia as she was one of the older children. I will have to read through my file and get back to you Janice ----- Original Message ----- From: "Margaret Christensen" <mardarch@fmctc.com> To: <RICHARDSON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 30, 2005 9:04 PM Subject: Re: [RICHARDSON] Richardson / Walter > > Thanks for writing. 3. My Richardson family all lived in and around Carroll Co. from around 1851-52 and I'm sure some descendents are still in the area. My oldest ancestor "Richardson" was Samuel K. Richardson who census says was born in 1806 in GA. (unknown county) appeared on the Tax Roll of Carroll CO. AR. in 1853. The next 3 and 4 generations were born in Carroll CO. Samuel also had a brother Thomas L. Richardson that moved to Franklin and Jefferson Co. at the same time as Samuel each brother raised large families. they were inter-married to many of the common names of the Carroll Co. Area. I do not know if they were related to other Richardson in the area. there was John and William and Joseph Richardson, and others as well. Mine came (born in ) Georgia but census says their parents (unknown) were born in NC. I know my Richardson spent a lot of time in Roane, McMinn, Bradley Co's of TN and perhaps other co's as well. Samuel Married twice both wives were from Roane CO. TN. I recently tried to contact a Blaine Richardson that lives in Harrison, AR. who carries a family name of Blaine but have not been able to contact him,! in hope of finding new data on my Richardson family. Any help on this Richardson family is greatly appreciated.
