Hi Kathy, It's interesting to see other Richardsons in Izard Co., AR in this time frame. On of my 5xg-uncles (Joshua Richardson - abt1771-bef 1850) came from Montgomery Co., VA to Warren Co., TN (1809-1832) to Izard Co., AR (1832-1840+) and on to Navarro Co., TX 1840+-bef 1850). LaVera Jones who is on this list can tell you about his family. I wonder if there is a connection? My Richardsons went from VA-KY-TN-IN-MO-Madison Co., AR. John Richardson

Hello, Margrett. I saw your message to Donna, so I am sending one on to you, since I am very interested that your Richardsons ended up in AR, and I am wondering where they settled? Though we haven't found that any of my grandmother's grandmother's Richardsons were in NC or GA, they were right across the line from NC in Pittsylvania Co., VA and before that were thought to have been in Halifax Co., VA. When John Richardson and his family left VA in the 1830's, they migrated to Gibson Co. in west TN. Two of their sons and one daughter and her husband moved on by 1860 (One son was there by 1857.) to Izard Co. in northern AR. They had ties by marriage to the Brightwell family of Pittsylvania Co., Gibson Co., TN, and Izard Co., AR. Does any of this seem to connect to any of your Richardsons in AR? My brickwall on my Richardson family has been my great-grandfather, Elijah L Richardson, (E. I keep forgetting. The address gets altered by Rootsweb, for no apparent reason. You may need to copy and paste just the first part of the link, from "http://www.entertainment..... through 7484,00.html (don't use the second part of the address, in the < >) and you'll find the story about Lucy Richardson, who inspired John Lennon to write Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. Or, you could Google Lucy Richardson, and find even more sources for the story. Sorry about the bad link. An Eagle Scout in Franklin, MA completed a project cataloguing the City Mills Cemetery in Franklin (on the Norfolk border) in an Excel spreadsheet, detailing the dates of birth and death for all buried there. There are quite a few of the Franklin, Medfield, Millis, Wrentham Richardson's buried there, as well as Partridge, Metcalf, Fisher and many more. If this is of interest, I can email the document. Please contact me directly, so that I may simply reply, with the attachment. I have not had the time to match up the data with my own ancestry, although I have visited this cemetery. For Richardson's from that area, it's one of the sites where you'll find many relatives. City Mills was at one time known as Richardson Mills. Perhaps the most famous Richardson there would be Albert Deane Richardson, who also has a monument erected in his honor in that cemetery. Gary Allen Richardson gar3131@msn.com

Hello, I have seen several references to Paul Joseph Richardson! Was he British or American in WW2? I've "rescued" an old photograph of Carrie Augusta RICHARDSON which was taken in 1892 at the G.H. Emery Studio in Rutland, Vermont. Carrie appears to be in her late teens or 20's at the time the photograph was taken. In addition to her name someone has written "Fac totum bene" on the back of the photograph. Based on limited research I do find a Carrie A. RICHARDSON age 6 years living with the BAILEY Family in Rutland, VT during the 1880 census. Her relationship to the family is not indicated so I'm not sure why she was living in the household. Carrie is listed as born in MA to parents born in MA and VT respectively. The head of household was Thomas R. BAILEY age 62, born in VT to NH born parents, and his wife, Sophia E. BAILEY age 59, born in NH to NH born parents. Also living with the couple were two sons, Henry M. BAILEY age 31, born in VT and Fred R. BAILEY age 23, also born in VT. A housekeeper, Mary WATERS age 30, born in Ireland also lived with the family. I'm wondering if Carrie might have been a granddaughter to the BAILEY's, noting that Carrie's Mother was born in VT as were the other BAILEY children. Carrie's Mother could have been a daughter to Thomas & Sophia BAILEY, I'm just not sure since no relationship is indicated in the census for this child. I'm hoping to locate someone from Carrie's family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
Has anyone traced forward from HUGH d'AVRANCHES as this is where the name RICHARDSON came from !!!! INFO BELOW.. Regards Peter Richardson (Freeman of Chester) Melbourne. Australia. Hugh d'Avranches, 1st Earl of Chester (died July 27, 1101) was one of the great magnates of early Norman England Hugh was the son of Richard Goz, viscount of Avranches in the far southwest of: Normandy A former province of north western France on the English channel; divided into Haute-Normandie and Basse-Normandie Normandy, and inherited from his father a large estate not just in the Avranchin but scattered throughout western Normandy. Hugh became an important councilor of: William Duke of Normandy. He contributed 60 ships to the invasion of England, but did not fight at Hastings , instead being one of those trusted to stay behind and govern Normandy. The decisive battle in which William the Conqueror (duke of Normandy) defeated the Saxons under Harold II (1066) and thus left England open for the Norman Conquest. After William became king of England, Hugh was given large grants of land, and then, in 1071, was made Earl of Chester Hugh spent much of his time fighting savagely with his neighbors in Wales One of the four countries that make up the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; during Roman times the region was known as CambriaWales, in the end subduing a good part of northern Wales and the island of Anglesey An island northwest of Wales Anglesey. In time Hugh became so fat he could hardly walk; he is often referred to as Hugh the Fat. He married Ermentrude of Claremont, by whom he had one son, Richard, who succeeded him. Richard married Matilda of Blois, daughter of Stephen, Count of Blois and Adela, a daughter of William the Conqueror. Both Richard and Matilda died in the White Ship Ship disaster (1120), and he was succeeded by his first cousin Ranulph le Meschin, Earl of Chester. -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
