    3. Hi, I have a newspaper clipping from 7/14/1935 Tyler or Athens,TX, mentioning the above Minister for the MARVIN METHODIST CHURCH; I have lots of Richardsons in my family data but can't make this man fit; anyone knows who this man's parents are? That might help me; if this is your ancestor, will gladly send you the clipping;thanks,Eleonore

    1. [RICHARDSON] Who's in the House?
    2. Kirk Yingling
    3. Hi - I just signed up for this list & thought I would start out with a post. I have two Watson ancestors, Oswald & Eliza, both born around 1805 living in Price George County Maryland with their two youngest children, Llewellyn (24) and Jennie (20). According to the 1870 census they also had a Llewellyn Covington (16) living with them along with a Martha (12) and Eliza Rebecca (7) Richardson. Has anyone run into Llewellyn Covington? Does anyone have any good guesses why young children with two different last names but identical first names would be living in the Watson household? Thanks, Kirk Yingling

    1. [RICHARDSON] Virus Info from Listowner
    2. Robert Hays
    3. New virus' are coming on line as well as the Badtrans.B is still going strong. Reminders: 1. If you are using McAfee as your AV program AND have OE v 5.5 or Less AND do not have all current MS patches installed you WILL NOT be protected from ANY virus. Even thou McAfee detects and warns that you have received a virus, it will not protect you from it and you will be infected ,,, even thou you select the Delete or Move options in the McAfee warning box, McAfee does not accomplish either and the second the warning box closes you will be infected ,,,, if you DO have all MS patches installed, when the McAfee box closes, a "Opening an Attachment" warning box will pop up and ask what do you want to do, options are: Open, Save or Cancel ,,,, be sure you choose "Cancel", this will stop the virus .. at this point press Shift+Delete , this will safely and completely get rid of the virus msg.. NOTE: the instructions above apply ONLY to OE 5.5 or Less users with McAfee . 2. For any incoming mail that appears to be from one of your Rootsweb Lists, look at the "To:" line ,, if it is truly from a Rootsweb list, it WILL have the full Rootsweb List address there and is safe to read ,,,, if it does NOT have the full Rootsweb List address in the "To:" line, then it is NOT from Rootsweb but from an infected member on that list OR was sent to you in private, either way, you are on your own about what to do. Be very, very careful, we are under attack in more ways than one. Bob Hays List Owner ________________________________

    1. [RICHARDSON] Re: RICHARDSON-D Digest V01 #152
    2. To Bob Hays: NO, IT WAS NOT FROM THE RICHARDSON LIST, just to clarify. The message said it was from the list, but first of all, it had no index number at the end as the list usually does so I began to be suspicious. I deleted right away and then ran HouseCalls Antivirus. It took a while to get through all of my files, but out of 12,000+, only one virus was found. It was contained in a joke someone sent me! Jan

    3. I have Norton and Outlook Express 6.0 and still got the virus. I had 8 of them infected into my computer and I never opened an attachment or the file or anything like that. Heather -----Original Message----- From: Jim [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, November 27, 2001 4:22 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [RICHARDSON] virus I'm not really sure why all this conversation concerning any virus. I use Norton's and do "Live Updates" weekly and have never received a virus that Norton didn't give me the choice of "Deleting", "Archiving" or "Fixing". All a person has to do is keep there Norton's current and use Outlook Express 6 which has 128bit encryption. If one dose not catch them the other will. 3. I got infected and never opened any attachments to the ones that I got. It made files on my windows systems folders. It was that W32 Badtrans worm or what ever it is caused. So I know that you CAN GET INFECTED WITHOUT OPENING THE ATTACHMENTS as it happened to me and I had to reformat my entire computer. Heather -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, November 27, 2001 6:47 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [RICHARDSON] virus Bob: Question for you. You say you CANNOT get a virus without OPENING an attachment. This is what I thought BUT was told by someone on another list that virus senders have gotten more sophisticated and can now send viruses on regular e-mails. I don't know how good a source the person that gave this information was, but he sounded like he knew what he was talking about. I have been very careful to keep Norton updated ever since. Do you KNOW for sure that what you state below is true? I wish we could get a straight answer on this!
