The following is based on tombstones in the Asbury Cemetery in Smith County Texas. There is a James R. Ritch b. 17 Mar 1827 - d. 9 Feb 1903 wife Gimminy G. Brown Ritch b. 28 Mar 1828 - d. 17 Feb 1924 buried at Asbury Cemetery, Smith County, Texas. Could these be the parents of John William Ritch? Modified Register for John William RITCH 13 Mar 2000 First Generation 1. John William RITCH was born 3 Aug 1859. He died 18 Sep 1927 and was buried in Asbury Cemetery, Smith County, Texas. John married (1) Ida Newton UNKNOWN. Ida was born 14 Aug 1867. She died 7 Apr 1905 and was buried in Asbury Cemetery, Smith County, Texas. John also married (2) Alice Venora HENSON. Alice was born 6 Sep 1880. She died 8 Jul 1946 and was buried in Asbury Cemetery, Smith County, Texas. They had the following children: 2 M i. James Albert RITCH was buried in Asbury Cemetery, Smith County, Texas. As his tombstone has not dates, this child may be the son of J. W. and his first wife, Ida Newton Ritch. 3 M ii. Harley RITCH was born 1 Oct 1908. He died 1 Aug 1910 and was buried in Asbury Cemetery, Smith County, Texas. 4 F iii. Velma RITCH. + 5 M iv. Clifford Onts RITCH was born 5 Sep 1911 and died 4 Apr 1976. 6 M v. Infant son RITCH was born 1913. He died 1914 and was buried in Asbury Cemetery, Smith County, Texas. Transcribed tombstone markers for Asbury Cemetery lists grave as, "Infant Sons of J.W. & Alice Ritch 1913-1914." Question - Is this grave twin sons who lived and died the same? Did they die close to the same time and the tombstone is for two small graves? 7 M vi. S/Sgt. Paul R. RITCH died 8 Feb 1945 in Luxemburg from Died in the service of his country at Luxemburg in the European area, Company C, 359th Infantry, 90th Division. and was buried in Asbury Cemetery, Smith County, Texas.
