The Richeys were apparently of Scots-Irish origin; they were Presbyterians from Northern Ireland. Perhaps they emigrated from the County Donegal. They immigrated to New York City about 1738 and settled on the Musconetcong River in New Jersey by 1747 and perhaps as early as 1741. Their lands fell within the boundaries of first Hunterdon, then Morris, then Sussex, and finally, Warren County. Children: i. William-1, resided in Virginia. ii. Robert, d. shortly before 10 March 1747. 1747-S, March 10. Richey, Robert, of Amwell, Hunterdon Co. Int. Inventory of estate (L- 56.0.10) includes a Bible, bonds of Stephen Baldwin, Daniel Kelsey, Edward Hunt, Bickley Welling, James Osborn. Made by Philip Cawlvin and Edward Rockhill. 1747, March 15. Adm'r. John Richeye, of Amwell. James Darompel and Edward Rockhill, of Amwell, yeoman, sureties. Witnessed by Abraham Bonnell. Lib 5, p. 491. 1749-1750, February 20. Account.
