Re Dev Clifford's inquiry. The Rich Family Association tracks the descendants of some 17 different Rich immogrant ancestors. I am responsible for those of Thomas Rich of Brookfield, MA who married Mary Petty. We now have documented over 2000 descendants. Two of us have spent over thirty years trying to discover the origins of our Thomas without success. My best guess is that he came to Mass. directly from the Isle of Jersey since he is referred to in some documents as Thomas LaRich. But he is definitely not related to the line of Richard Rich.
