Hi all, I am still searching for the parents of my gr gr grandfather, Newton Rich, b abt 1827 TN. By 1847, he is living in Benton Co (later became Calhoun Co), Ala. He's listed on a work record with James Rich in the Lipscomb family papers. In the 1860 Calhoun Co, Ala census, he's living at Mount Polk with his children William, Albert, James, Thomas Jefferson, and an unnamed male infant (was possibly John D. Rich). His name is spelled Riche at that time. Also in his household was a female listed as Gora Riche, Elisha Gora and his children David and Josephine. Newton's wife may have been Mary Gora/Goree. Living next door were John L. Rich and his wife Nancy Noah. It is said that James and John Rich were the sons of William Rich who was the son of Jacob Rich and his first wife Philopena. Was Newton William's son also? I have been unable to find any proof that he was. I'd appreciate any information or clues anyone may have. Regards, Toni Rich Peters
