Hi John et. al. Your list of Riches has just one minor error, but it leads to a very interesting story as reported by Julia Rich Hogan in the August 1969 issue of "Kinfolk" All the children of Lemuel Rich Sr. (b. 1711) were also born in Truro. This includes his oldest son Lemuel Jr. (b. 1735). When Lemuel Sr removed to Gorham, Maine, between 1759--1762, all his sons and daughters went with him. At the time of the family's move to Maine, only Lemuel Jr. was married. Lemuel Jr. had married his second cousin Sarah Rich. (Her grandfather Richard Rich was the brother of Lemuel Jr.s grandfather Samuel Rich.) In any event, Sarah refused to move to Maine. She stayed in Truro with their two daughters. Lemuel Jr. published an advertisement in the Massachusetts Gazette on Feb 26, 1767, disavowing her and refusing to pay any debts incurred by her. They must have been divorced (although I know nothing about divorce laws in colonial New England), since Lemuel Jr. subsequently married Molly (or Mary) Colley in Maine and had nine children with her. This info is based on Julia Rich Hogan's article written over 30 years ago. If you don't have access to old issues of "Kinfolk", I can send you a photocopy. Good luck, Ed O'Hara
