    3. While larry is answering please forgive my intrusion but I may have a lead for you. Here is some information on a line with a George(second child of Peter and Elizabeth) , which may help. The location and timing look good. Much more info is available if this is your George. Bobby Rich brich@panola.com Peter and Thomas Jr. Rich (Orange County NC) Thomas Rich Sr.(c.1730 Germany-1780 SC) married Susannah Neu(c. 1730-died after 1792 Orange County NC)[daughter of Peter & Hannah Neu(Noe/Noah of Orange County, NC) Thomas and Susannah had three known children-Thomas Jr., Peter & Jacob. These three received land grants as a result of service in the Revolutionary war. There is another probably brother Benjamin Rich. And almost certainly a young brother Joseph who was under guardianship to his uncle and namesake Joseph Noe. The grandfather Peter Neu/Noe/Noah also served and Thomas Rich Sr. died at Gates defeat SC in 1780. Peter Rich(born c. 1770 in Orange County NC) married Elizabeth Garrett(born c. 1770 Orange County NC-daughter of Henry Garrett). This couple had ten children as follows: 1. Philpena(c. 1797) married Oct 1, 1818 Isaac Albright Children-Martha(lived to age 99), Emily(married Jesse McQuestian in 1841) 2. 1. Ensign D. Rich
    2. I am looking for information on Ensign D. Rich that married Julia Ann Root in Painsville, Ohio on 14 Nov 1894. Julia was 65 years old at the time of her marriage to Ensign so I assume he was about that age also. Julia moved to Seattle, WA to be near relatives in about 1905 and lived there until her death in 1912. What happened to Ensign and how does he fit into the Rich picture. I have other Rich relative and was wondering if there was a connection somewhere. Thanks for any info. Earl Sherman

    3. HI Frank and all others: Thanks for the corrections/additions to the Paine/Rich genealogy you sent out here on the list. Your work is a good example of what we all should do with our data. First and least: you put in sources of where it all came from in your original post. Most data in genealogy on the net seems to come straight in from cyberspace which makes it hard to trace--no long documentation of its journey as my e-mail has when it comes. (BG] Second -- you corrected a mistake. WOW. And here I must give a nod to the internet advantages. The error got out fast so that I was able to correct the original with no problem. With the print medium, for example a daily paper, the errors corrected the next day usually are so far gone that the correction only satisfies those who may have been wronged by the error. All the best to you and appreciation for your good work. ML in VT

    1. Anthony Rich, etc.
    2. Helen Wadsworth
    3. Ruth Westbrook and Reed Wurts were looking for info re Anthony Rich. I am not descended from Anthony, but am descended from Alexander Rich, who was Anthony's uncle. Alexander and Jonathan Rich were 2 of Joseph Rich & Elizabeth Brown's sons. I have very sketchy info re Jonathan -- born in 1763, married Rosanna Kemble and had one son, Anthony. After Rosanna's death, Jonathan married Mary Snodgrass and had 2 more sons, James S. & Josiah. My records show Jonathan's date of death as March 12, 1844. Joseph Rich & Elizabeth Brown had 7 children -- Alexander, Jonathan, John, Joseph, Josiah, Jesse & Mary. According to my records (mostly received from a cousin), Joseph was born in Buckingham, PA on September 27, 1733, married Elizabeth Brown on May 24, 1759, and died October 27, 1810. I think he is buried in Friends Burying Ground in Bucks County (as is Elizabeth who died August 6, 1823). Joseph was the son of John Rich and Sarah Hough. John came to Bucks County, PA in 1730 and bought a farm in Plumstead Township in 1740. I show Sarah Hough to be the daughter of Samuel Hough of Solebury Township, but that's about the only info I have. I think Joseph died in 1751. Reed Wurts mentioned that John Rich's father was also John Rich, immigrant in 1683. I have no info before the John Rich in Bucks County -- does anyone know any of the ancestry further back? 3. Hi Ruth (and Rich-list members), I have an Anthony Rich (9 Jun 1787-16 Jun 1843) who married, in 1809, Maria Ann Mann (30 Sep 1792- 13 Jul 1871). Anthony Rich reportedly participated in the War of 1812. Anthony Rich was the son of Jonathan, son of Joseph, son of John, son of John. Anthony's parents, grandparents, etc. - the Rich family ancestors were of Solebury, Bucks Co., PA, and the other lines of Buckingham, and Middleton, and Plumstead, all towns/townships/villages in Bucks Co., PA. Anthony Rich was the g-g-g-grandson of Humphrey Morrey (d.1716), the first Mayor of Philadelphia, PA. (see my web site below) I don't really have much more on this Rich line, just this much from some notations on my grandfather's chart and a few notes my mother collected. Here is my Rich line: 1.
