If someone has these two wills, would they be kind enough to post them on this forum? Henry Rich died in 1793 in Rowan Co., NC and his will is in Will Book D, page 108. His son Isaac Rich died in 1787 in Rowan Co., NC and his will is in Will Book D, page 107. Many thanks. Joy Winchester, TN
I am looking for information on Hiram Posey Rich, born about 1834 in North Carolina. He married Emeline Whorley. I found this family in the 1860 Murray County,Ga census. This census showed 3 children, Mary A. Rich, Jeremiah Rich and Joseph.Rich. I found Emeline as head of household in the 1870 Murray County,Ga census, so it appears Hiram Posey Rich died before 1870. This census was so dim and faded I couldn't make out the names of the children. I am trying to determine if they had a son Sam Rich, I don't have a birth date but it would have probably been between 1860 and 1870.

I am searching for information on the birth date and any family information on Elnora Rich. She married my g-grandfather Marion Dow Maples on 2/14/1888 at the age of 18. That would put her birthyear about 1870. This was the second marriage for Marion D., and it took palce in either Carroll or Benton Co., AR, so I am thinking that her family was from around there. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Robin Hulver Houston, Texas
Dorothy McCann-Philllips asked, earlier this month, for Sumner Rich's progenitors. The Ahnentafel chart below carries back to Nicholas Rich. This information was collected from ancestor tables and articles submitted, over the years, by Rich family Association members for publication in "KINFOLK" the association magazine. I find it quite amazing that Sumner's father, Thomas who was born in MA in 1808, moved ,during his offspring producing years, to Wisconsin and then moved yet farther on west. He died in 1888 in Oregon. He spanned the continent. Today that would not be at all surprising, but a man born a quarter century after the founding of the nation did that ! --note: for space, Sutton = ** and Cambridge = ## Gen I 1.) I am looking for the ancestors of Richard Rich who was born about 1370 and had a son Richard born about 1400. Carolyn Nelson
Just wanted to call attention to the execution at San Quentin in California today of one of "ours".....well maybe he's one of "yours"...cause I don't want to claim him. Darrell Keith Rich, age 45, was executed as a serial killer for crimes committed in Northern California....Shasta County. He was from Cottonwood in Shasa Co. I don't know anything about him but wanted to write this in case someone was looking for this fella in their research. Don't know his mother's name but I know that she was buried in a cemetery in the Redding area, Shasta Co, CA....and she will be moved to another location by her son. There was objection to his being buried in the site near his mother as it is very close to the grave of one of his victims. Perhaps no one is looking for this fella but I wanted to put it out to the list "just in case". Barbara....uprooting family trees in Sacramento.

hello all: And to Don especially, I have been searching for some years to find Thomas's family descendants, and I am so very delighted to hear from you Don! Yes would you please fill me in on the family....This is my mother's family, my grandmother was Mattie Estelle Rich and her father was Sumner Kenney Rich and her mother was Mary Abigail Nogle-Rich. Anything you can send would be very much appreciated! If you are interested, I have many letters which Mattie Rich had written me, and would be happy to send them to you as well. Needless to say you have made my day and I thank you! She does mention a Don Rich in her letters as well. Would you also be a descendant of this family? I will await your response Don, thank you again. Dorothy McCann-Phillips
Dear Dorothy, Over the past 35 years various descendants of Thomas, father of Sumner Kenney Rich, have submitted, for publication in Kinfolk, Ancestor Tables, or articles on earlier generations,or "For The Record" (family information, most commonly death notices), on their Rich ancestors. The net result is that I have generated links that show that the subject Thomas is a sixth generation descendant of Nicholas Rich, b 1660, d 1726 at Prescott CT. Working from Nicholas down to Thomas, there are multiple generations located in Sutton, MA, a location you mention. The Spring 1975 issue of Kinfolk has a death notice for Daniel Lee Rich, Dec 31 1974 at Jamestown ND. He was the son of Sumner Rich, b at Dell Prairie WI, 15 Sep 1887. You reference, early in your note, that "proof is needed" on earlier generations. Unfortunately, these articles and postings do not generally show definitive sourcing. None the less, I can, if you have a degree of patience, fill you in with what I have posted into a large, multi-family chart of families covered in Kinfolk articles. Don Rich -- donrich@prodigy.net
