Hello, Here is my Rich line, I'd like to hear from an "cousins" out there to expand on what I have and to share information. The line starts with Micheal DeRich in Esses Co, Mass about 1672. Micheal was married to Mary Bassett of the Witch Trials. Micheal had a son, ( not sure Mary Bassett was the mother) named John DeRich who married Martha Foster on Oct 25, 1698 in Essex, Mass. They had a son name Paul, and Paul changed the name to Rich. He married Bethia Colburn on Feb 10, 1733 and lived in Dudley, Worcester Co, Mass. They had a son named Thaddeus Rich who married August 19, 1760 and lived in Worchester Co. Mass. Thaddeus married Abiah Frost Their son John Rich Sr moved the family from Mass through Vermont to N.Y. He married Susanna Putney on May 1, 1782. John died in Warren Co. N.Y in 1849. Their son was John Rich Jr. who married Jane Patterson in 1815. They lived in Rensselaer Co. N.Y. ( John had family in Washington Co. N.Y. also. There are several of this Rich line in these two counties.) Their son was Moses T. Rich who move to Michigan from where he served in the Civil War. He was in Bay Co and moved to Saginaw Co. He married Almira Bellmore. Moses was my husband's grandfather. Anyone connected, I'd love hearing from you. Arlettia Fyfe smoke@mcn.net
Arlettia, You've tapped into my line. I descend from Thaddeus' youngest son, Josiah. They moved from Rensselaer County > Cattaraugus County, NY > Miami County, KS > to Walla Walla, WA by the late 1800's. I would love to share information. But his folks were suppose to have settled in Tremont Maine from England. And started a shipyard there. There is a Rich Cemetery in Tremont, here are the names that was obtained from there. Sgt. Tyler Rich, d5/22/1864,age 22, in a Civil War Battle. On the same monument are listed other members of the Rich Family. including; John T. Sgt. Tyler Rich, he died in the Civil War in 1864-There is a John T Rich d. 1880 and wife Margaret d. 1895, they were the parents of Tyler. There is also a list of the children of JT & M. There are more old stones in the cemetery but they are undecipherable. The cemetery also contains some other names such as Nurphy and Dow. I believe this is the line that my late husband was died to, because there is such a similarity of names in his generation to those names on the stones. And his forebearers were suppose to have settled in Tremont Maine when they arrived here from England. I am doing the Rich search for my children who are Rich's. And interested in thier roots. I don't know if this will be of any help to anyone but I am sending my list. Betty. --WebTV-Mail-4230-3763--

Hi everyone, Here is my line of Riches: Richard Rich--d. 1695 Samuel Rich--b. 1685, probably Eastham, MA. Lemuel Rich--b. 1711, Truro, went to Gorham, Maine James Rich--b. 1748/49, Truro, went to Maine Joseph Rich--b. 1782, Limington, York, Maine Augustus Ellis Rich--b. 1832, Thorndike, Waldo, Maine, d. 1910, Fall River, MA Pembroke Somerset Rich--b. 1860, Statesville, North Carolina, d. Fall River, MA Blanche Alexandra Rich--b. 1890, Fall River, MA Oscar Joseph Gagnon, Jr.--b. 1923, Fall River, MA. Me! I would like to be in contact with anyone who is a descendent of Joseph Rich's children. Also, a comment on Kinfolk and the Rich Family Association...without their help, I would be still wandering somewhere in the past through the state of Maine not knowing where to look. The members have been generous with their time and information and helped me bridge the stone wall that hits a lot of us in our searches. While a lot of Rich lines still are at the beginning of being researched, the Rich Family Association is a great place to find other researchers who may be working on the same line. Check out the web site and join if you haven't! You'll meet a lot of cousins--after all, we are all members of a truly "Rich Family." Everyone have a great day! Hi John (and everyone on the list!) Just a note to say hello. Hope you are doing well. Based on our conversations in the past, I think that the "Boaz" link is the correct one. Grannyml - Do you have the children and who they married of the John that was born in175l and died at Bearstown, NY? My line decends from his brother James and one of James children married in Whithall was said to have married a cousin. His name was Moses and he married a Louisa Rich who was the daughter of James and Clarrisa Rich sometime about 1828. That is not a positive date. I thought maybe James could be a son of John born 1751. Thanks for any help you give me. Marian Thorne
