    2. Thought I would try again as I do not think my first one went through. Mary, Thanks for the offer of help in Whitehall. I appreciate it. I am also looking for the daughter of James Rich of Whitehall, NY. She was born in Ct. in 1770. Does anyone have proof that she may be the wife of Sherman Babcock? Her name maybe Delecta or Electa Rich. Thank you.

    1. William Jackson Rich, b. 1812 GA
    2. Daughdril
    3. According to census records William Jackson Rich was born in GA, but I have never been able to tie him to other Rich families. He married Eliza Ann Collins, daughter of Samuel Collins, in Butts Co., GA in 1835. He remained in that county until his death in 1895. Samuel Collins was born about 1796 in Delaware and died in Butts Co. I have never been able to connect W J Rich to any GA (or border NC) family. The names of his children may offer some clues: Sarah Jane, James, Susan Frances, Mary Elizabeth, William F., Joseph J., John Blanton, Annie E., Robert Wilburn, and Jesse Q. Hope this sounds familiar to someone.

    2. Hi Brenda: Notice in your line that your Ephraim Rich son of Zaccheus Rich and Ruth Collins must be the brother of my Thatcher Rich. I wonder if they married sisters your Ephraim married Hannah Lombard, while Thatcher married Jane Lombard. Do you know of any other children of Zaccheus Rich and Ruth Collins Ted Richard

    2. Charlie, Yes, RFA membership is for a calender year. If you join now we will try to make sure you get the spring and summer issues of Kinfolk. I don't know if that is a part of the constitution, by-laws or just general policy. Just in case other RFA members haven't noticed, year 2000 dues are due. Check your mailing label. if the last number on the top line is 1999, that is the last year for which dues have been paid. If it is 1998 you will not be receiving the fall/winter Kinfolk unless you pay up. If you think our records are wrong, let us know. Dick Rich - President, Rich Family Association

He had a daughter Agnes who married a man named Townley. Does anyone happen to know Jeremiah's birthdate? marriage date? Who he married? Does Agnes have any brothers or sisters? 3. My line of Rich goes back to Samuel Rich in Connecticut. Samuel Rich Prosper Rich (1800-!880)--Married Clarissa Merwin Harry Rich (182--) Mary Rich (1824--) Samuel M. Rich (1825--) Daughter (1827) Judson Rich (1830-1902) Wellington Rich (1832-1906) Forrest Rich (1834---) Alonzo Rich (1836--) Caroline Rich (1838--) Sarah Rich (1840--) Prosper was a potter in Ohio. Welliington Rich was my Great Grandfather--he married Prudence Electa Smalley. Their children were: Edson Prosper Rich (1858-19300 Lura May Rich (1862-1922) David King Rich (1866-1942) As a youth he received just a grade school education, he later acquired a thorough knowledge of English and Latin . After graduating from Wesleyan University of Ohio, he taught in Griggsville, Il. for many years. He later resigned from teaching, took his family westward on the boats "Welcome & War Eagle". They settled in Atchison Co., Mo. to engage in farming. There they built a log cabin near the Missouri River. They experienced Small Pox, Droughts, Flooding, Grasshopper Attacks, and Fearful Storms- making their livelihood quite hectic. Since Wellington's father was a potter, they tried making pottery with a homemade kiln. Success was dependent upon the weather, which was most tricky. After an earthquake and clouds of mosquitos, Wellington decided to move his family to Brownsville, Ne. There he took charge of the grade schools 1869-1876---then on to Falls City. Later he was elected County Superintendent of Public Instruction for the state of Ne. He taught the Sioux Indian school in Yankton, Dakota Territory for short time. In 1890 he was appointed Superintendent of Indian Schools in Phoenix,Az. There he established the schools (one for boys and one for girls) for the Secretary of Interior. After the government changed hands, the school met with change. Wellington was dismissed and moved to Omaha,Ne He retired in 1895 and continued to live in Omaha until his death in 1905

    3. Lena, You may be interested to know that the spelling of the name Simeon was just that in several family lines around 1800 in the area of Guilford/Granville counties, NC. So you do not need to assume that Simeon is a misspelling of the given name of Simon, though it may be. Also the surname of Resor or Ressor was a familiar name in Bertie Co NC around 1800 and before. I am not a Resor Researcher and so can add little except that it is a rare surname in my experience and I know that there are many documents with the name of Ressor in the NC Archives, primarily in the Bertie Co NC area. Bertie Co NC also has a very active Roots mailing list. Bertie is an interesting county in NC. Based on the dates of birth for your Ressor line, they very well could have migrated out of that part of NC (which is known as southern VA) through TN and on into IL/IN. This was very common about that time-that is prior to about 1840 or so. Bertie Co NC has a very interesting history. For example, many of the white residents sided with and fought on the side of the North during the Civil War even though they were slave-owners. They were very upset at the idea of NC seceding from the Union and this was a more urgent matter for them than slavery. 3. Hi, I have recently (the last three days!) determined that my ancestor, Charles REACH/RICH, who died in Bibb Co., AL in 1833 and Nimrod REACH/RICH, who died in Bibb Co., AL in 1830, MAY be a part of this Timothy RICH line. I am trying to prove that Charles REACH/RICH who died in Bibb Co. in 1833 is the Charles RICH named as executor of his father Jeremiah RICH/REACH's will in 1782 in Wake Co., NC. I also believe the Nimrod REACH/RICH who died in Bibb Co., AL may be the son of Timothy(2) RICH. My Charles REACH/RICH of Bibb Co., AL m. Milley BAILEY in Morgan Co., GA in 1806. He has two daughters, apparently from a previous marriage, who also married in Morgan Co., GA: Frances REACH/RICH m. Thomas SPICER in Morgan Co., GA in 1815; Patsy REACH/RICH m. Howell CAMPBELL in Morgan Co., GA in 1810. Does anybody have any information on what happened to the Charles RICH/REACH listed as executor of his father Jeremiah REACH/RICH's will in Wake Co., NC in 1782? This would help me determine if this is my Charles REACH/RICH. There is also a marriage record for Charles RITCH and Tempy EMBROUGH, 25 May 1792, Wake Co., NC; Charles RICH appears on the 1798 & 1799 Tax Lists for Ogelthorpe Co., GA. Also, Doris, what is this Book 2? I just joined the list.
