    3. I am curious too. Has there ever been an index of the "Kinfolk" publication? I am looking for more information as to where the Elias Rich branch of Mount Desert Island, Maine came from originally and wondered if "Kinfolk" has ever done an article on the subject. I joined the Rich Family Association last year and feel it is well worth supporting. Sandra Gilley So. Mary, I plan to take a look at "Kinfolk" at a library that's not especially nearby soon, and wonder if there is any sort of index for the many issues of it? I have a distant branch of Riches from Maine that I've just begun to research, and hope to find a mention of them in "Kinfolk". (FWIW, I'm researching a Mary E. 3. For Lee Ann and others: The Rich Family Association, P. O. Box 142, Wellfleet, MA 02667, is a society for those interested in, descended from, or with the surname Rich. It was started in the 60s on Cape Co. Many members are descendants of Richard Rich of Piscataqua (now Portmouht NH) and Eastham, Cape Cod. A number of other Rich gateway ancestors have been researched and data published in "Kinfolk." Other members are searching for their ancestors, as are many who post here on the Rich list. Members who are on the net try to help when these messages are found. "Kinfolk" started publication in 1966 and so we are working on Vol 33. It is now published three times a year, in March, June and October. Each issue has 32 or 36 pages offset printed from camera- ready copy. Contents include all sorts of things which might interest Riches. Members often allow serial publication of their research results. Somes of these collections have been later published as books. "Kinfolk" goes to all members and to a number of libraries and genalogical societies. Regular subjects in each issue are Ancestor Tables; For the Record, obituaries, birth notices and marriage records contributed by members and from newspapers; Genealogist Corner made up of comments, reprints of interest from similar journals and from members; Genealogical Queries--queries from members seeking ancestors or help with research; articles about Rich families; biographies of "Riches to Remember"; membership application page; and a few pages of association reports, list of officers and items for sale. Because most members are not computer users, a section on Computer Genealogy presents some of the related materials from here. The contents of Kinfolk are under copyright by the RFA The RFA also has scholarshiip funds that go to deserving children/grandchildren of members. A fund at Boston University which started as the bequest of Isaac Rich, a founder of BU, is awarded with RFA cooperation in choosing a qualified Rich recipient. Details of these activities are reported in Kinfolk along with photos of recipients. Scholarships are awarded at the annual meeting in September An annual reunion on the third Saturday of September has been held in recent years at Eastham, Cape Cod. The program includes help from genealogists for members attending, a field trip to some nearby site, luncheon at noon, with a meeting, speaker and raffle following. Details of this activity are in the summer issue of Kinfolk. I will try to answer any questions you might have, or will furnish more material if you are interested in joining. ML. Production Editor of "Kinfolk."

    1. RICHES in Alsace
    2. William Rich
    3. I just recently found a lot of information about my ancestors in Alsace, France. Camille RICH was born in Guebwiller, Alsace, France in 1869. He emigrated to NY in 1890, with his wife Therese Heine. He had three children, Ernest RICH(b. 1890), Emily Millette and Helen RICH, who died at 16. I also found a mention of Camille's brother, Paul RICH, who was living in Flushing in 1933. Paul must have also been born in Guebwiller and emigrated later. We believe that Paul's name at birth was Thiebaut, but changed it in America. If this is true, he was born in 1880. Any information on Paul(Thiebaut) RICH or Emily Millette (spelling?) would be greatly appreciated. Also, I have a good deal of info on the early ancestors, dating back to the 1600's in the Guebwiller area. The valley there is called the Florival, or valley of flowers. The RICH name was quite common there in the 1600-mid 1800's. Thanks, William RICH

    1. Rich cabin from 1797
    2. LeaAnn
    3. Hi all, Just wanted to share this with you for anyone researching the Jacob Rich (Fayette Co. Pa) line. Jacob had a son named Thomas, who moved to Ohio around 1797. He built a cabin and later built a large farmhouse around it. Abt 1987, when the farmhouse was being remodeled, they discovered the cabin. It was dismantled by the Loveland, Ohio Historical Society and set up on the grounds of their museum. There are two portraits in the cabin, one of Thomas' son Thomas, and the other of his wife Christina (Flommerfelt). It is open for tours for anyone wanting to visit it. While I'm at it, my line is: Jacob Rich b. 2/12/1732-33 Fayette Co. Pa Thomas Rich b. 1772 Pa Thomas Rich b. 1804 prob. Ohio Minard Rich b. 1834 Hamilton Co., Oh Charles H. 3. Can anyone tell me whether Thomas Rich, (m. Mary Petty 3/29/1696, Springfield, MA, d 1702 Brookfield MA, children Thomas, John, Ebenezer, Experience) fits into the Richard Rich line? If not, from whom is he descended? Thanks, Dev Clifford (descendant of Richard through Ebenezer Rich and daughter Rachel Rich)

    1. Thomas Rich, Brookfield, MA
    2. Re Dev Clifford's inquiry. The Rich Family Association tracks the descendants of some 17 different Rich immogrant ancestors. I am responsible for those of Thomas Rich of Brookfield, MA who married Mary Petty. We now have documented over 2000 descendants. Two of us have spent over thirty years trying to discover the origins of our Thomas without success. My best guess is that he came to Mass. directly from the Isle of Jersey since he is referred to in some documents as Thomas LaRich. But he is definitely not related to the line of Richard Rich. 2. My Rich Line is: Richard (1), Richard (2), Odadiah, Isaac, Reuben Harding (1), Reuben Harding (2), Edward Raymond (1), Edward Raymond (2). Isaac moved from Truro, MA abt 1797 going to Harpswell, ME. I am most interested in the ME ancestors: the children of Reuben Harding Rich (1) and Susannah Raymond and the children of Reuben Harding Rich (2) and Deborah Trufant. Finding a source for the birth of my GGrandfather, Edward Raymond Rich (1), b. abt 1842 would be wonderful. I understand from the Civil War Pension Record of his brother, Reuben Harding Rich (3) that their brother Henry R. Rich, b. 1833, W. Bath, ME, was in posession of the family Bible in 1908. Does it still exist? Kathi
