    1. [Reynolds] Reynolds DNA Project
    2. Our Reynolds is a female two generations back from my mother. We know of no male Reynolds who are kin to us. However, let me encourage any of you who know male Reynolds to participate. You might even want to pay their way as it were as it will benefit your research if they are kin to you. I got my dad to participate in his line (not Reynolds). We were able to match a line that we had only hoped to be related to. We still haven't found the person 7 generations back that ties us EXACTLY together, but at least we are CERTAIN in a way that only science can guarantee that we have a common ancestor at that point. We also have a perfect match with someone on his maternal line as I have that tested as well. We haven't heard back from that fellow yet, but I trust that we will eventually. and I hope that we will discover that we have a grandmom in common. I also paid for my mother's brother to join (he has a Reynolds grandmother, but not possible to test at this point). There we have only been able to find some cousins with 3 genetic variations so we might be related even 10-15 generations back. no one else from our last 6-7 generations has joined. However, as people continue to take part, we will all continue to benefit as long as the people who participate share the data that they obtain--and knowing genealogists, they will. Again--have males sign up both for YDNA (paternal line) and maternal line (mtDNA) later. It is wonderful to get those messages--you have a match! The cost is reasonable--100 and up depending on the level of test that you have made. The result is a sure thing and good for all your blood relatives. It is absolutely painless. You sign a waiver to share your email address with others who share your family DNA. You scrub your gums, like brushing your teeth on two different days and mail the kit in. Then you wait about 6-8 weeks. My dad sent his in last April and we are still getting information. Good luck on linking the world. A cousin to many Reynolds, I hope, but only a few that I know...and none with the Reynolds name. Julia Norton
