Trying to find relations of my ggf Allen Reynolds born in 1832 in N C. He shows in the 1860 census in Tippah Co,Ms. married to Martha (Whittington) Reynolds with son John Francis age 2. Any connection would be appreciated. Roy Reynolds
Hello Roy, There are several Allens in my S.F. Tillman book "Christopher Reynolds and his Descendants". One in particular is said to be the son of Gillam Reynolds b. 1807. No birth date or marriage is given for Allen, so I don't know if it is yours or not. However, With a son named John Francis, we could suppose that he is descended from the John Francis Reynolds b. 1710 in VA. This is my line. John Francis the 2nd was born in NC about 1732. His brother, Elisha, b. 1755 in Wilkes County is my direct ancestor. Elisha had a son , Bowen, who went to Mississippi and was a missionary to the Indians there, so it would not be surprising to find relatives of his there as well, although Bowen died in Carrollton, MS in 1845. All this is supposition, because I have not found any Allens in my line, but perhaps it gives you some clues.
