About 12 or 13 years ago, my Mother was living in the university Mobile Estates in Loma Linda, California. She told me there was a lady living in another ne of the Moile homes there, by the name of Ellen Swatko, who had been raised as a Reynolds, and this lady would like to talk with me. I called her and she came over, and brought some papers that I am now trying to find in my Resources files. One of the names on that sheet of papers was of a Marcellius Reynolds of Trinidad, Colorado. There were several other names. She said this gentleman was her uncleor father. She also told me of some rather infamous relatives belonging to this same clan, by the name of John Reynolds and James Reynolds, who had ridden with Jesse James (Albert Brown). They left Kansas and worked their way west. At one time theyrobbed a Wells Fargo Stage Coach of $50,000 in Silver. the possie caught up with them and kiled, I believe the John Reynolds. James was reported to have been injured, and got away. He later buried the loot in the hills near Trinidad. I think they later caught him and he served a jail sentence in the Colorado State penitentiary. These boys were Uncles of this Marcelius. Of further! interest, and Idon't know the connection, but my Grandfather's oldest Brother, an Elmer Jerome Reynolds was married to a Minnie ??? She divorced him due to his dependence on the "bottle", and moved in with "relatives in Trinidad, Colorado. I think there is only one person with the surname of Reynolds now living in Trinidad, but quite possibly related. Her name is Margaret Reynolds of 817 San Pedro, CO 81082. phone (719)846-7187.
