Thanks for your answer. Yes, I am curious if there is any connection with your William Riley to my Michael. Michael was born also 1824 in TN. I found an older Michael in Hawkins Co. in the tax list in 1804 or about that time. There was an older Iley in the 1830 census. Michael names one of his children Iley. I just can't find any connections. All of Michael children claimed they were Irish even though Michael was born in Tennessee. Everything seems to stop at the Civil War. What a sad time!
