From my mother, I learned that my grandfather was William Kelly Reynolds (known as Kelly) born 1879, she thought Kelly was the son of Robert Young Reynolds and Harriet Ellen Smith. And she though Robert Young’s father was Hamilton Reynolds Checking the 1880 Virginia, Scott County, Estilville census records, I find Robert Young Reynolds age 34 born in Virginia (son of Hamilton Reynolds) and Harriet Ellen Smith age 30 born in Virginia, with a son named William N. T. Reynolds, age 1 born in Virginia. Hamilton’s father was born in North Carolina and his mother was born in Tennessee. The other children of Hamilton are names I have heard my mother refer to as her aunts and uncles. I have not found a record of Kelly Reynolds in Virginia. My family had told me that my grandfather William Kelly Reynolds had lived in Kentucky in the early part of the century. I checked the 1910 census records for Knox Creek, Pike County, Kentucky and found a Kelley Reynolds, wife Molly, daughters Osa (?) Belle (this should be Ocia Belle) and Edith (my mother’s parents and sisters) listed. This record listed Kelley Reynolds born in Virginia, his father born in Missouri and his mother born in Virginia. Needless to say, this leaves my very confused. Can anyone help me sort this out? Shirleynk@aol.com
