My g-g-g grandfather was A.C. Reynolds (Allen C.). He was born in Conn.(don't know town or county) ca. 1789. He had a brother, A.G. Reynolds (Albert G.). A.C. married a Harriet A. (don't know maiden name) in New York in Jan. 1810. A.C. fought in the War of 1812, as a member of the New York Militia and then became an officer in the U.S. Army. He was discharged in 1815. This information was given in a sworn statement when Harriet was petitioning for A.C.'s pension. A.C. and Harriet had four children in New York, Lewis A., Susan, Harriet Jane, and Eliza. All left New York in 1831 for Texas. I found A.C. and Harriet with four children having arrived in New Orleans with their destination Texas in the passenger list in May 1831. A.C. was the first attorney for the first municipality of Texas under Mexican Rule in 1835. He owned one League of Land in Houston, Harris County,Tx. and also bought the William and Peter Kerr Land Grant in Washington, County,Tex.A.C. died in March 1837. H! arriet A. Reynolds died in 1845 or 46. Both are buried on the Kerr Land Grant in Washington County in their own cemetery. I am a g-g grandaughter of Harriet Jane Reynolds who married Devereaux J. Woodlief in August of 1836 in Brazoria, Texas. They had two children: Thomas Jerome Woodlief and my g-grandmother Harriet Modeste Woodlief, who married William Augustus Driskill. Harriet had been previously married to a Seay who died. She had one son by Seay. John (Jack Seay). William Driskill had a daughter by a previous marriage to Melissa McGee, and her name was Hattie. Hattie married Lawrence Tooland. They lived in or near Ft. Worth. Willam Driskill (who was known as Gus) and Harriet Modeste Woodlief Driskill lived near Mason, Texas and had 6 sons, my grandfather James Saddler Jerome Driskill was the oldest, he was born in 1868 he married Ola Sarah Gardner(Gardiner) in 1893. They had 13 children.James and Ola lived in an near Collingsworth Tex. most of their married life, although many of their 13 children were born near Granger Tex. Harriet and Willaim'snext son was Claude(died in Oklahoma) then Thaddeus(died in Calif.) Lawrence(died in Austin, Tx.) Walter (died in Arizona) John Devereaux (died when an infant) I am searching for the parents of A.C. Reynolds and the maiden name of Harriet A. Reynolds. And a marriage record of A.C. and Harriet. Also birth records of their children, Lewis A., Susan, Harriet Jane and Eliza. I have been in contact with one of Susan's descendants, and she also has no records beyond the same information that I have. Lewis married Nancy Bond in Washington, County Tx. Susan married Nelson Bates, and then Charles Smith, Harriet Jane married Devereaux J. Woodlief in Brazoria, Tx. and Eliza married a Ransom and then a Willett in Tex. When the family moved from the East Coast, were they living in New York, Mass. Conn.? Did they leave family behind. Harriet A. Reynolds did say in her petition, that the money from the pension should be sent to John Marshall (her power of attorney) in New York. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
