Hi Everyone, My Reynolds brick wall is William Reynolds b. abt 1790 in Thaxted, Essex, England. There isn't a baptismal entry for him in the Thaxted Parish Register, so I am stuck there. William Reynolds b. abt 1790 m. Elizabeth Collin in 1812 in Thaxted - no children. William then moved to nearby Wimbish, where he married Jemima Mead in 1825. They had 5 sons, all born in Wimbish, Essex, England: James Reynolds b. Oct 1826 d.Feb 1848 Wimbish, Essex, England Joseph Reynolds b. Jul 1828 d. Jun 1850 Wimbish, Essex, England Samuel Reynolds b. 10 Nov 1830 d. 7 Jan 1897 Rossville, Vermilion, Illinois Philip Reynolds b. 15 Apr 1833 d. 9 Sep 1909 Rossville, Vermilion, Illinois Thomas Reynolds b. 28 Dec 1835 d. 25 Aug 1923 Rossville, Vermilion, Illinois Their father, William Reynolds, died in Wimbish, Essex, England on 29 Jan 1865. The youngest 3 sons, Samuel, Philip, and Thomas all went to Rossville, Vermilion, Illinois, by way of Quebec, Canada in June 1857. The ship they traveled on foundered, but they were rescued. They then traveled from Quebec to Illinois and were given work in Rossville, Vermilion, Illinois by local landowner Abraham Mann. I believe that they helped build Mann's Chapel. Samuel Reynolds m. Harley Johnson Reynolds was my great-grandfather. He was a barber and a bluegrass musician.
