    1. [Reynolds] Mary and Evan Reynolds in Indiana
    2. Kenneth McBrayer
    3. I'm looking for descendants of Mary (Fettic)and Evan Reynolds from Indiana. The last census information that I have from them was from Daviess County, Indiana. Mary was born in March of 1850 in either Ohio or Iowa (census records say one or the other), Evan was born in April 1850. (Evan's parents were born in Kentucky [father] and Virginia or Indiana [mother] according to the 1900 census for Evan and Mary.) Evan and Mary had 4 children that I know of. But the only 2 that I know the names for are Samuel Bruce (This could be one child or 2, I haven't been able to find it yet) (b. October 1877) and Charles Reynolds (b. September 1888). Bruce married Lucy Cloyce Charlie and had several children. Their names were Hershel, Bruce, Opal, Ruby, Edith, and an N name that I couldn't read on the census. Can anybody help? Do any of you know any of the descendants of these families? Please contact me any time if you have any information on this family. Thanks so much! 3. Hi my name is Carollee Reynolds. I have been trying to work through my brick wall with my ancestor RUFUS C REYNOLDS born approx 1820 Upper Canada. I believe that he might be son of PELEG REYNOLDS and PHOEBE VAUGHAN. Peleg was born in Hancock MA , I think he be the son of Clark Reynolds and Anna Reynolds ( 1st cousins). Clarks' Parents were James Reynolds and Suzannah Clark of Hancock Ma. Rufus married Sarah Marriah Morits (abenaki indian) and had children: John, Clark, George, Rueben, Oscar, Andrew , Charles, Phoebe, Melissa, and Mary. The places that Rufus and sarah had children was Chazy Ny, St. Armand Quebec , Upper Canada and Franklin VT. If any one knows any thing about Peleg or Rufus I would be eternally grateful--Thank You Carollee Reynolds P O Box 149, Huntington VT 04562/ carollee57us@yahoo.com --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? 1. [Reynolds] Reynolds DNA Project
    2. Our Reynolds is a female two generations back from my mother. We know of no male Reynolds who are kin to us. However, let me encourage any of you who know male Reynolds to participate. You might even want to pay their way as it were as it will benefit your research if they are kin to you. I got my dad to participate in his line (not Reynolds). We were able to match a line that we had only hoped to be related to. We still haven't found the person 7 generations back that ties us EXACTLY together, but at least we are CERTAIN in a way that only science can guarantee that we have a common ancestor at that point. We also have a perfect match with someone on his maternal line as I have that tested as well. We haven't heard back from that fellow yet, but I trust that we will eventually. and I hope that we will discover that we have a grandmom in common. I also paid for my mother's brother to join (he has a Reynolds grandmother, but not possible to test at this point). There we have only been able to find some cousins with 3 genetic variations so we might be related even 10-15 generations back. no one else from our last 6-7 generations has joined. However, as people continue to take part, we will all continue to benefit as long as the people who participate share the data that they obtain--and knowing genealogists, they will. Again--have males sign up both for YDNA (paternal line) and maternal line (mtDNA) later. It is wonderful to get those messages--you have a match! The cost is reasonable--100 and up depending on the level of test that you have made. The result is a sure thing and good for all your blood relatives. It is absolutely painless. You sign a waiver to share your email address with others who share your family DNA. You scrub your gums, like brushing your teeth on two different days and mail the kit in. Then you wait about 6-8 weeks. My dad sent his in last April and we are still getting information. Good luck on linking the world. A cousin to many Reynolds, I hope, but only a few that I know...and none with the Reynolds name. Julia Norton

    3. Over the past few weeks I have enjoyed and looked forward to the postings by several of the people who monitor this sight and move about the "World of Reynolds." Some of the common themes are: "I am seeking ...." I am looking for... "Does anyone have information on..." One of the most recent advances and noteworthy subjects is the use of DNA testing as a tool for our Reynolds research. It is not a substitute for family history research, but it is a valuable tool to be used in conjunction with genealogical inquiry. Five, ten, or twenty years and further back, we did not have this technology to assist us in locating our "lost" Reynolds families. This is possible because a small portion of the Y chromosome found only in men and is passed from father to son. The Reynolds Surname DNA Project aspires to: · Support genealogists as they evaluate their current research · Validate certain conclusions where adequate documentation is not available or has not yet been found · Resolve a broad spectrum of genealogical research challenges · Prove which Lines are related and therefore share a common ancestor · Show how a Reynolds family tree spans multiple centuries If you can relate to any of the above points, shouldn't you at least check out what DNA testing for genealogical research is all about? You owe it to your ancestors to do so. http://www.reynoldsdna.com/. If you would like to discuss how it might help you please contact me. I would be eager and delighted to discuss. 2. Mary
    3. Hi Pam, There is another on the list that was gracious, such as you, to do a check for me. It is her line but what I found out is that Tilmon and William couldn't be brothers as William's parents were married after Tilmon was born. It could be possible that they might have some relation such as cousin or such. A descendant of our line stated that Celia Reynolds, sister to Tilmon, married a Moses Day. Joyce who is a descendant of Moses Day sent the information to me. I might also state that in this William's line there is not mention of a Tilmon/Tillman. Tilmon's wife, Elizabeth Moore, was married prior to marrying Tilmon Reynolds. I believe she was married to a William Day and believe their son is Moses Day. I don't believe anyone knows exactly what happened to William but in 1832 Elizabeth (Moore) Day married Tilmon in Forsyth County Georgia and they later moved into Troup County Georgia. Most of the information on Elizabeth has come from Joyce. Elizabeth's father is William H. Moore. To date we haven't found any family connected to Tilman and believe this line has not yet been documented. It may be why we are having such a hard time connecting family at this point. I do appreciate your willingness to help and great to have people on the list that do help. Merry Christmas, Mary

    3. Hi, DeDe, I have the 1880 census on CDs and thought I'd try to find something for you. I found a listing in Danby, Rutland Co., VT of the family of Ira H. Vail, farmer, age 58, he and parents born VT; Ada Vail, dau., housekeeper, age 19, she and father born VT, mother born RI; Amelia Reynolds, dau., age 36, she and father born VT, mother born RI; Ralph Reynolds, grandson, attending school, age 8, he and mother born NY, father born VT; Louise Reynolds, granddau., age 4, she and parents b. NY; Lloyd Reynolds, grandson, age 1, born VT, father born NY, mother b. VT; Elmer Baker, farm laborer, age 18, he and parents born VT. I looked in the History of Danby by J.C. Williams (1869) and find on page 279 the following for Ira H. Vail, m. Mary, da. of Ephraim Chace, and succeeded to the homestead. He is a thrifty farmer, a man of integrity and industry, having accumulated a good property. He has been a selectman two years; a Justice of the Peace five years, and was a member of the Legislature in 1859. They have raised a family of seven children: Edward L., m. Julia Fish; Amelia, William Henry, m. Alice Reynolds, and lives in Collins, N.Y.; Semantha, Lydia, d. in 1864, aged 11; Jennie and Ada. There is no listing in there for Reynolds, but I would guess that Amelia might have married a Reynolds and had the children listed in the census. In another section of the History of Danby, under the Nelson Colvin write-up, it says that a son, Benajah, m. first Amelia, da. Ira H. Vail, and next Lucinda Hosmore, and lives with his father. So it looks as if Amelia Vail didn't marry a Reynolds if this is correct. BUT! I just found a correction listed at the end of the book: On page 279, in sketch of Vail, Ira H. add, Amelia m. Byron Reynolds of Collins, NY. So it looks as if the Colvin information must be wrong. As for Gilbert and Mary Reynolds, I find a couple with that name living in Ridgefield, Fairfield Co., CT, in the household of Edward A. Reynolds, ret. farmer, age 84, he and parents born NY; Laura Reynolds, relationship listed as other, age 81, she and parents born NY; Margaret M. Smith, housekeeper, other, mulatto, age 27, she and parents born NY; Percy Reynolds, farm laborer, grandson, age 18, he and parents born NY; Gilbert Reynolds, agent for furniture, son, age 45, he and parents born NY; Mary, dau-in-law, age 42, she and parents born NY. I don't think they are the parents of your Ralph. There is an N. Ralph Reynolds, age 10 (born 1870), in Lawrence, Essex Co., MA, in the household of F. Nason Reynolds, wood turner, age 39, he and parents born NH; Faustina Reynolds, keep house, wife, age 41, she and parents born ME; N. Ralph Reynolds, at school, son, age 10, he and father b. NH, mother b. ME. What do you think? I'd guess that the family in Danby might be a good one to follow up on. Good luck! Joann Nichols DeDe Meek wrote: > Hi all and Happy Holidays!
