It appears he was living with son Sylvanus in Rossi, NY at the time of his death.(17) General: Joseph, like several of his brothers, was apparently a Revolutionary War Veteran. His Rev. Pension records mention son Sylvanus who made affidavit. Other children are not listed in the pension application. He may possibly had a first wife before marrying Bathsheba Randall based on the conflicting ages of his son Sylvanus. Joseph Reynolds sold land in Freetown to Dudley Hathaway in 1796. The deed was witnessed by apparent brother Michael Reynolds. In 1840 he appears to be in Hermon, St. Lawrence, NY with 1 male aged 80-90, 1 female aged 70-80,, 1 female aged 30 to 40 and one female aged 15-20. 1. Joseph REYNOLDS - MA & NY
    2. MScheffler
    3. I was glad to get the two responses to my posting of last night. I have been researching this line over several years for a friend who wants to join the Mayflower Society. This line for Sally REYNOLDS goes back to John ALDEN, Edward DOTY, and William SOULE and the line of her husband John BAKER appears to go back to Richard WARREN. Many more BAKER proofs are needed there, however. I am hoping to find a reference in a published book to Sally and Joseph REYNOLDS to add to the documentation, but I do have a deed that links Sally REYNOLDS to her deceased father Joseph REYNOLDS. So at least I have some documentation. My initial introduction to the REYNOLDS line came from a Walter BEALL who posted some information on a Kindred Konnections database a few years back. I contacted him then and he sent me some additional material apparently researched by Edith BAKER PIERCE who died in about 1988. I rejoined the successor to Kindred Konnections -- "MYFAMILY" to see if the data was still there and get the email address, but the email address is no longer good. I could still write to the mailing address that is listed, but have not done so as yet. Joseph REYNOLDS is tied to his father Electious REYNOLDS through his pension application file made when he was about 99 years old and apparently not of completely clear mind. He did eventually get a pension, however, which was stopped Sept. 1846, so Joseph must have died by that time. There is a separate file in the pension correspondence that said he made a mistake when he said he lived in Roxbury, that he was actually from Rochester, MA. The Syracuse, NY library has several REYNOLDS genealogies, but there is nothing in these books except one mention to Electious REYNOLDS of being an unplaced family. I will look that page up again and copy it, but I don't think it would add to what you two were asking. I will post in a separate message an individual summary on what I have for Joseph since it may be too long if for one email if I append it here. It has the sources I have thus far. Hopefully it will be of some help to others researching these same families so we can all find the information we need. I would appreciate any additions and corrections. Margaret Scheffler

    2. Raynold & Jean Brooks
    3. My Reynolds line in Maine, (earlier in MA.) had a male who married an Indian (no longer allowed to use the term "Princess") female. She was the daughter of an Indian leader called "Squid Asset". This is the story which has come down thru the generations. Anyone ever hear of this? Or, is anyone a decendant of the mid Maine Reynolds (Augusta/Sidney area)? Thank you, Jean

    3. Hi, Margaret, I was pleased to see your query regarding descendants of Electious Reynolds and Mary Pease. I believe that I am descended from Electious and Mary as well. However I do not know through which child my line goes. I found the intentions of marriage on my Plymouth County, MA CD (same as the tan books) for your Joseph Reynolds and Bathsheba Raldall, int. June 18, 1785 in Rochester. Also in Rochester are marriage intentions for Hope Runnel (see Reynolds, Runnels) of Middlebo[rough] and Abner Haskens, int. Dec. 8, 1765. And Deliverance Runnels and Eliphalet Haskins, int. Sept. 15, 1766. Where did you find the birth record for your Joseph Reynolds? I did not have that information. He is not included in the children that I have for Electious Reynolds, Jr. and Charity Caswell. The children that I have for Electious, Jr. and Charity Caswell stop in 1742, and were all born in Middleboro. I believe my line goes back to Eliphalet Haskins and Deliverance Reynolds. I don't know what happened to Deliverance, but Eliphalet was in Pawlet, Rutland Co., VT in 1785 when he posted in the newspaper that his wife, Abigail, had left him. He appears to have gone to Clinton Co., NY after that. I hope we can compare notes and perhaps track these people down!
