Re-posting after having no luck several years ago. Third time lucky maybe ! I have London REYNOLDS and have traced back to 1816. My gt. gt. grandfather was Thomas REYNOLDS. Don't have his birth details, only that he married in 1816 in St. Pancras, London. I also have Australian connections - one of the above's sons went to Australia as a young man. Kind regards Angela
Tim -- Where were your Reynolds from -- and when? I have an Elizabeth (Betsey) Reynolds married in 1827 in Sumner Co., TN to Richard Cornelius. She was born in NC. I do not know of her parents.
Have also seen name spelled as RONALDS. Looking for parents and siblings of Elizabeth. Is she a sister of Miles E. REYNOLDS who married Mary L. McINTIRE (believe to be sister of John S.McINTIRE). John and Eliza lived mainly in White Co., IL. He remarried after Eliza died abt. 1901. Any help greatly appreciated. Betty Braden
I have found the grave of Nancy Reynolds Cochran, daughter of Larkin and Elizabeth Arnold Reynolds. If anybody is doing research on this family is interested let me know. tim

After more research I have determined that Thomas Reynolds Sr.did came from Scotland and landed in Norfolk Va. So now I am searching for information on the Reynolds families of Scotland to Va. I have found a marriage record for a possible Thomas Sr. Reynolds, Thomas married Smith, Mary 21 Jul 1774 Virginia Frederick County I am also searching for other family members in reference to this article. DR. PEETE's PLACE This house stands on the eastern end of what they now call Fifth Avenue. In the earliest history of Warrenton it was the lot on which stood the first Methodist Church, called in that day "meeting house." Some years later Mr. Reynolds, a Scotchman, built a home there for himself and family, consisting of his wife, himself, his son, Thomas J. Reynolds, his two daughters, Nancy, (Mrs. Varell) and Martha (Mrs. John Price). I have been told that this was a very simple but attractive home, the house scrupulously neat, the yard a lovely sward of grass, shaded by fine trees. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Debbie House" <LeafbyLeaf@msn.com> To: <REYNOLDS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 09, 2004 12:44 PM Subject: [Reynolds] St Clair County Alabama Township- Reynolds Connections > I am searching for connections of Reynolds (various spellings) in these > townships of St. Clair County Alabama. Dear Shelley, Thanks for sharing this... My hubby's REYNOLDS family line is connected to the STORY family. He has Pheba Catherine STORY married to John Ross "J.R." Reynolds in Marshall County, AL in 1849. John had migrated from Bedford Co., TN in 1843 according to the records that I can piece together. I have found STORY families listed in the Bedford County censuses but I'm not sure who Pheba STORY's father is yet. It is widely held that her parents were Thomas STORY and Emily MILLICAN but I have found some info that may conflict with that in a Guion Miller Application (for the Cherokee allotment of funds) for one of John's daughters. John R. Reynolds served in the Civil War as a blacksmith but I haven't been able to find a record of his service yet. My hubby's granddad had his uniform but gave it to a museum. He also had his journals from the war but they were "borrowed" and never returned. He probably rode with Gen. Forrest if family lore is correct. This information is sketchy at best but may provide some clue as to the STORY/REYNOLDS connection. Warm regards, Kaeli
Shelley- My Reynolds come from WOODVILLE, GREEN COUNTY, GEORGIA... other than Woodville I see no name to connect with REYNOLDS. I've "rescued" a group of letters including four which clearly belong to the STORY Family of Virginia. Four letters are written by W.M. STORY from Elys Ford, VA in 1896 and 1897 to Leila, Lelia, or Luly. Clues found in the letters include: -haven't heard from Woodville -Mr. Fletcher and Tabby to be down soon -Wheatly has married a woman from Baltimore -Little Frank, Rob, and Joe seem to be Leila's children or siblings with Rob and Joe being grown -J.W. is living in Olney, MD -Sunday School convention in Oakland -Visits to Richmond -Author appears to be older, maybe even elderly -Ralph & Hattie are living with the author -Leila isn't married at the time -Ralph & Hattie are visiting with Mr. Fletcher -Ralph & Hattie will visit Silas in Woodville -Jimmy Reynolds is in Richmond -Talks of comrades belonging to "our" regiment -The babies name is Olive, could be Ralph & Hattie's baby -Leila has sent letters from Gordonville, Waldrop, and Oak Hill -Leila is told to ask Uncle John for wood if her Pa won't help -Hattie is addressed as Leila's Aunt A fifth letter is written by Ida of Woodville to Jinnie in 1877 and contains the following clues: -Sister Jinnie went to Cousin Lucy Browning's -Lucy Roberts came home with Sister Jinnie -Sister Jinnie & Lucy Roberts are visiting Mt. Salem -All visited at Mr. Rudasilles -Dr. Biedles danced with the girls -Mrs. Lanck died -Miss Sleinda visited, James William Fletcher is living with her -Asthma medicine can be purchased in Wassenton -Jinnie lives with Mr. Reynolds -Jinnie is to say hello to Miss Nannie and Miss Linie -Ida appears to have a young son named Silas -Silas has a cousin Jinger who may be Jinnie's daughter -Benie Kempes has gone to visit Mr. Miller -Masy is out visiting with Cousin James Browning -Mr. Johnson (may be elderly) sends love to Jinnie -Ida's Ma sends love to Jinnie Based on very limited research I believe the first group of letters was probably written by William M. STORY whose wife was Elizabeth JOHNSON. Their son Ralph H. STORY b. 13 Sept 1861 in Rappahannock, VA married Harriet Ann FLETCHER on 18 May 1887. Ralph is said to have died 17 Nov 1931. Harriet's parents were Alpheus & Tabitha JOHNSON FLETCHER and her siblings James W., Wheatley, Meta, and Tabitha. The family was included in the 1880 census living in Jefferson, VA. Both of the Tabitha FLETCHER's carry the middle name of BROWNING so I'm thinking that is where that family connection occurs. Hattie's sister Tabitha married Samuel COOK in 1897 in Rappahannock Co., VA and died 16 May 1902. I'm hoping to locate someone from this family so that these wonderful old letters can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

By the 1860's the area was still a mountainous region that would have made travel very difficult. Even today the roads are steep and winding up the mountain. Sometime between the Civil War and 1870 , Micajah's family moved to Lawrence Co., AL. Micajah is no longer with the family in 1870. I have not determined yet where Micajah died and where her is buried. I have found no evidence that Micajah was in the war, but at least 3 of his sons were. I suspect that after the sons came home from the war , the family left their home due to the terrible things happening around them. Hi Everyone, Just some more detail on what I have for Wesley Reynolds. I do have his birth and death date. b. 27 Dec 1895 d. 4 Dec 1962. That is all I have been able to find, besides his information in the 1920 and 1930 Census. I don't yet have the money to send in for his original application, so I was hoping to find some family relations through here or anyone that knows this line through the Roach side, etc. Thank you, Jennifer Eklund Eklundj9@aol.com
Hi everyone, I am looking for information on a Wesley Reynolds, who was born in California, Bay Area, about 1895. He married Agnes Roach. They had three children. Grace, William, and a baby who was William's twin who died at birth. Any information on this family is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Jennifer Eklund
Listers, Since my recent posting I have been deluged with requests for lookups in Tillman's 1959 genealogy, but we are going on vacation, and I can not accept any more requests before July. Any received between now and July will be ignored. Tillman's book can be purchased from http://www.higginsonbooks.com http://www.tuttlebooks.com Higginson just sells the book. Tuttle offers the book, and my supplemental index as a separate item. There is a lot of great info in it...but there are also a lot of errors. Tillman's index leaves a great deal to be desired, and he made no provision for finding the child in the next generation, so I created a supplemental index which does just that. Just color me not available for a couple of weeks, please. No e-mail until July, please. Thanks. Marty Irons
