    1. Reynolds in Australia
    2. Sally McPhee
    3. Dear Listers I have had a quick look for anyone following the large family that came to Australia in 1833 and only found a couple of entries. I know they have a huge number of descendants all over the world. There are a couple of people who are following this family, principally I am in contact with Elva Brooke who has the best collection on this family. I am wondering if there are any other listers looking at any of this family?: George Reynolds m Dinah Temple Goodman 25 Dec 1827 at St Dunstan's, Stepney They migrated to Hobart on the 'Lady East' in 1833 bd. 10 Sep 1806, London, England dd. 15 Mar 1889, Hobart, Tas, Aus | George Rueben Reynolds | bd. 17 Oct 1828, London, England | dd. 1882, Newtown, NSW, Aus | Henry William Reynolds | bd. 2 Nov 1829, Bostock St, St George, London, Eng | dd. 14 Mar 1897, Te Aroha West, NZ | Thomas Augustus Reynolds | bd. 2 Apr 1831, Mile End Old Town, London, Eng | dd. 28 May 1918, Port Elizabeth, Sth Africa | Emma Dinah Reynolds | bd. 2 Oct 1832, Bedford St, Mile End, Middlesex, England | dd. 21 Mar 1915, 18 College St, Hawthorn, Vic, Aus | brd. 23 Mar 1915, Melbourne General Cemetery | Eliza Reynolds | bd. 18 Nov 1834, New Town, Tas | dd. 1902, Launceston, Tas | Charlotte Reynolds | bd. 25 May 1836, Hobart, Tas, Aus | dd. 23 Sep 1877, Hobart, Tas, Aus | William Reynolds | bd. 24 Sep 1837, Tasmania | dd. 30 Mar 1896, North Carlton, Vic, Aus | Edward Reynolds | bd. 14 May 1839, Hobart, Tas, Aus | dd. 6 Jul 1846, Hobart, Tas, Aus | Sarah Reynolds | bd. 21 Sep 1840, Hobart, Tas, Aus | dd. 21 Sep 1840, Hobart, Tas, Aus | Frederick Reynolds | bd. 22 Oct 1841, Hobart, Tas, Aus | dd. 1 Sep 1907, Hobart, Tas, Aus | Amy Reynolds | bd. 3 May 1843, Hobart, Tas, Aus | dd. 13 Nov 1929, Hawthorn, Vic, Aus | brd. Dinah Goodman's parents, Augustus Temple Goodman & Dinah, also came on the 'Lady East' and they both died in Hobart in 1846. It seems that George Reynolds Snr was an earlier arrival, and he died in Launceston Tas in 1823. His parents were Edward Reynolds and Ann Gouge. Sally McPhee sallymac@bigpond.net.au

    2. In a message dated 12/17/2004 7:46:53 PM Eastern Standard Time, Whatcom59 writes: In your recent posting on the RI List you said that Mary Reynolds, wife of John Tefft, was the daughter of Thomas Reynolds and Sarah Clarke. Would you share your proof with me? I have this Mary Reynolds as the daugher of Robert Reynolds and Deliverance Smith. Their daughter Deliverance Reynolds married in Westerly in Jan. 1726/7. Robert & Deliverance (Smith) Reynolds also had a daughter, Mary Reynolds who was named in her father's will. After Robert Reynolds died his widow Deliverance (Smith) Reynolds married Joseph Tefft. Thank you, Susan Irish Nahas Hi Susan, A good question! I too at one time had Mary Reynolds, wife of John Tefft, as the daughter of Robert Reynolds and Deliverance Smith. This led me to do miles of research on Robert Reynold's and Deliverance Smith's ancestors, including not only the Smiths, but Gereardy, Sweet,Pollet and Wescott. But I never could find any proof. Then someone convinced me that Mary Reynolds was not Robert Reynolds daughter, but actually the daughter of Francis Reynolds and Elizabeth Greene. So I changed my database, and added the ancestors of Francis Reynolds and Elizabeth Greene including Greene, Potter, Anthony, and Tattersall. Again I had no proof. Then Tim Tefft suggested I look for The Reynolds Family Annual Reports, which I found in The Rhode Island Historical Library on Hope St in Providence. There, in an article by Mary Reynolds Fosdick in the 31st Annual Report, page 135, was the marriage of Mary Reynolds, daughter of Thomas Reynolds and Sarah Clarke to John Tefft. Not exactly primary proof, but better than any thing else I could find. I welcome comments from anyone who has a better idea!
