Somehow, Once you start in it - it is hard to stop. So there does seem to be a great desire behind the Family Genealogist to keep trying. Perhaps in the long run this will mean success. I'm afraid i cannot add to the Needed Windham Data. Most of my work has been on Dale County Windham's and Their Descendants. I've read over and over not to reply directly to you so I'm sorry to do so in this instance. Angelon44 sent a message on 1-1-02 re: Reynolds from Reynoldsville Pa. I'm directly related to one of those lines that go back to those brothers who settled out Reynoldsville and would very much like to know more about the earlier family. Angelon44 indicated he had the family back to England in 1504. My problem: when I respond (as I did on Jan 2) I get the message back that angelon44 is not a known user!!! Please say you can help me get to that person? Thanking you in advance. for any help you may be able to give me. Sincerely, K. Greer
Hi K Greer and Reynolds list members, >I've read over and over not to reply directly to you so I'm sorry to do so in this instance. >Angelon44 sent a message on 1-1-02 re: Reynolds from Reynoldsville Pa. Greer I'm sending this reply to K Greer and to the entire list, because I hope it will clear up some questions for all list members. Please let me know if you don't understand how the list works or how gatewaying works. When I say not to respond to me in the case of a forwarded message, I mean to me at [email protected] Here, you're not doing that. In fact, you've sent a message to the list, [email protected], which means you've sent your inquiry to 500+ people. When someone sends a message to the list, one has a choice of responding directly to the person who posted it or to the list and the person who posted it. That's okay. Often, everyone would like to know. But, when the message is FORWARDED, which I do on a regular basis because people sometimes send messages that wind up going to me through the Reynolds-admin address or the REYNOLDS-L-request address -- which come to me, the administrator, rather than to the REYNOLDS-L address -- if you hit "Reply," I will receive your message, not the list members or the original sender, and I can't help with family I don't know about. Replies to forwarded messages should always go to either to the list itself or to the ORIGINAL sender. Don't send them to my e-mail address. I hope this is clear. If you still have questions, please let me know, and I will try to clarify further. It's perfectly okay to ask questions. In answer to your question about Angelon44, that was a message that was not forwarded by me, but rather one that was "gatewayed" from the Reynolds Message Board on Rootsweb/Ancestry. In other words, when that message was posted to the Reynolds board, it was automatically forwarded to our Reynolds list. In this case, there is a link in the message back to the original message posted on the Reynolds Message Board. Click on that link to send your reply. Or if your e-mail program doesn't allow clicking on a link, copy the link into your browser -- Internet Explorer, Opera, Netscape, or whatever passes for a browser in AOL, etc. Here is the original link from the message in question: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/TJDBAIB/3665 I just clicked on it and it took me to the message. If you reply there, when Donna gets her e-mail and/or connection problems straightened out, she should see it. That is, if she gets notification or if she bothers to go back to the Reynolds Board. I hope she does and you two make a connection. Sorry to make this such a long message, but I wanted to make sure everyone is clear on all the concepts. If not, please let me know. This is the first information I have heard on the Reynolds family that MIGHT tie in the North & the South Reynolds? I haven't much information, but it sounds like it must be common to yours. My 4th Great Grandparents were Asa & Electa (Electra?) Reynolds. I know very little on this family but would love to find more. I have been told that Asa's mother was Mehitable or Mehitabel. Two of the many children of Asa & Electa were Edward and Walter. Walter died in a prison in SC. At least two of the sons were in the Civil War, and may have even died then. I was told that Edward became a railroad baggage master and married Mary Elizabeth Barnum, daughter of David Barnum. They had a daughter named Flora who married James Moore. James & Flora had a daughter Bertha Elizabeth "Lizzie", who may have married a Johnson, and then married my Great Grandfather, Harry Garfield Waterman. I have no information on the Moore, Reynolds or Barnum families, but lots of clues are loom! ing. Does any of this tie in with the early to mid 1800's of your Reynolds information. How is Rev. Cooley Sumner Reynolds related to Asa & Electra? Any other information which you may have might help to ascertain if these are also my 4th great grandparents (Asa & Electa).
