    3. FOR COUSIN GARY & others! Page 13 from "Renshaw Reflections" before they received their inheritances. Frances Clark Renshaw (1) wf of Thomas, was, as we have said, dau of Robert, Sr., and Selina Smith Clark, of Deer Creek, Md. Francis had brothers; Robert, William, George and David Clark and sisters; Hannah Amos, Mary Johnson, Sarah Clark, Hatie Johnson, Elizabeth Clark and Selina Clark, all mentioned -in her father's WILL probated in 1757. The relationship of the Renshaw and Clark families was of long standing. John Renshaw, of Somerset County, had m. a Frances Clark, dau of a Robert Clark, a generation earlier. One-half of the land owned by Thomas (1) Renshaw was called 'Clark's Dunvary of Antrim' .. I trust that an enterprising researcher may 'Lind the original connection. d. Joseph Renshaw, fourth son of Thomas and Jane Renshaw, m. Elizabeth Wells, may have been named for the Joseph Ren- shaw named in the WILL of Mathew Mason, of Queen Anne Coun- ty Maryland. After all, he could have been the father of Thomas (1) and grfa of these four brothers. Who knows? Joseph and Elizabeth were m. 23 Oct 1742, St. George's Parish, Baltimore County, Md. His inheritance from his fa was that Dart of the plantation having the dwelling and all the improvements. It seems that the other sons had been given their portions of the land but Joseph, the youngest son, had remained, with his fam- ily, on the 'home' portion, helping his father and did not get complete possession as long as his mother lived. They were in Bush River e in Civic affairs. As late as 5 Feb 1777, Joseph, Sr. and all his sons took the Oath of Loyalty to the Crown but the sons later took up arms for the colonists, were officers and are among the few Renshaws who provided their descendants with the right to membership in the D.A.R.! Among those signing the Oath in 1777, with the Renshaws, were William and Joseph Wells, their mother's relatives and Robert Clark, Junior and Senior Renshaw family connections. Joseph, Sr. served as his brother, Abraham's, attorney when Abraham sold eighty acres of his land and had removed to North Carolina. Ch of Joseph and Elizabeth Wells Renshaw 1. Cassandra Renshaw b. 8 Sep 1763 d. before April, 1812. She never married; lived with sisters, Jane and Eliz- abeth, both unm, on land bequeathed them by their father in equal shares to all his children. To these three sisters Joseph left ten slaves; Cate and her four ch: Patt, Jane, Doll and Suck, Rachel and her four ch: Priss, Eliza and Been Cook, and all their posterity. Cassandra left a WILL in which she left her share in all this to her sister, Elizabeth, her father having died in 1809, three years earlier. Jane must have died after 1809 as she is not mentioned in her sister's WILL: "I give and bequeath to my sister, Elizabeth my half of all the stock, bedding, household furniture and farming utensils with all other property now owned by Elizabeth and myself". Joseph Renshaw, 13
