Hello Everyone, I have received the death certificate on my great grandfather from the state of VA. I have waivered back and forth on his real name, but think this is the correct one, since his son William James RENSHAW, Jr. reported the death of his father. This is what the DC shows on him: Name: William J. RENSHAW Age: 62 Sex: Male Color or Race: White Marital Status: Married Occupation: Cotton Mill Birthplace: MD Father: W. T. RENSHAW (William Thomas) Birthplace of father: MD Mother: Martha EDWARDS Birthplace: OK Date of Death: November 24, 1925 Plade of death: Danville, Pittsylvania, VA Cuase of Death: Hemorrhage of brain Informant: W. J. RENHSAW Jr. Address: Danville, VA In the data that Gwen posted on the 1880 census from MD, it's possible this family may be mine: Wicomico County Renshaw, William T. (race white) age 46 (1834) born MD Martha A., (w) a.36 (1844) b. VA William Jr., (s) a. 16 (1864) b. VA Esther L., (d) a.13 (1867) b. VA Annie V., (d) a.12 (1868) b. VA Mary H., (d) a.10 (1870) b. VA Rose E., (d) a. 7 (1873) b. VA Robert H. L., (s) a. 4 (1876) b. MD Charles E., (s) a. 2 (1878) b. MD Edwards, Meredith K., (B-I-L) a. 33 (1847) b.VA This may or may not be the family...but it looks like it may be worth pursuing looking in Wicomico Co. for them. I believe the Charly RENSHAW Gwen found in the 1900 census of Montgomery Co., MD may be the same Charles E. listed in the 1880 census in Wicomico Co., MD census. Renshaw, Charly -b. May 1878 age 22, bp. MD could not read Vol. & Ed #'s Eve L., (w) b. July 1896, a. 19, bp. MD Unnamed baby, (D) b. Mar 1900 age 2/12, bp. MD Woodland, Katie E., (S-I-L) b.Jan 1888 age 12, bp.MD The W. T. RENSHAW and Martha listed above in the 1880 census fits since her brother Meridith K. "EDWARDS" is in the household. The discrepancy in Martha's birthplace could be explained if she is the Indian ancestor we are supposed to have in our lineage. She could have been born in VA and sent to OK with the Cherokee Indians. Another mystery to be solved... Interestingly enough, I did find a Mattie EDWARDS in the DAWES Indian Rolls. Furthermore, I think this William T. RENSHAW may be my gg grandfather that I posted from the Civil War Muster Rolls: William RENSHAW Middle Initial: T. Unit: 4 Battery Maryland Artillery. Rank In: Private Rank Out: Private National Archives Microfilm Box, Roll, and Record: 000379, 0002, 00001434 Fought for: (U = Union, C = Confederate) C The search goes on. Thank you for your postings Gwen and others that have information to share. I'm sure what we find helps others or will help those that join the list in the future. Tina Ellis
