Hi Everyone, I have just joined the list, opened my mailbox tonight and got the shock of my life when I saw the many postings, the majority of which were from my friend Tina Ellis. Well done Tina, I didn't realise you had been working as hard as this on the Renshaws. There is a wealth of information there. I was born and still live in Coventry, which was part of Warwickshire, now part of West Midlands, in England. I am trying to find more information on John Renshaw. All I know is he was the father of Sarah Renshaw, my great grandmother. Here is the short line that I have: John Renshaw b? daughter Sarah Renshaw b.1864, place? m.George Henry Warner 24.12.1886 at Nottingham register office. George Henry Warner was b.1864 Foleshill(now part of Coventry) Warwickshire. Their daughter was Beatrice Warner, my paternal grandmother, b.1890 Sneinton, Nottingham, m.Francis Cockerill(later changed to Cotterill) Coventry register office 19.7.1913, d.3.3.1969, Nuneaton, Warwickshire. Their son was Kenneth John Cotterill, b 1921, Coventry, m.Peggy Phyllis Rumble, b.1923, Coventry. Then me, Stephen John Cotterill, b 1949, Coventry. The only John Renshaw I can find with a daughter named Sarah of the right age was married to Mary. The 1881 census shows a Mary Renshaw, a widow aged 47 with a daughter named Sarah, aged 14. Their address was in Bury Lancashire. I maybe clutching at straws with that, but there seems to be very little on my Renshaws. Family stories say that the Renshaws were with a travelling fair in Nottingham, when George Henry Warner met Sarah Renshaw. They married in Nottingham and lived in Coventry. Does any of this ring any bells with anyone? Thanks, Steve.
