Hi Donna, On Jan 23, I posted an abstract of the 1850 TN census that I obtained while in Salt Lake City. One of our list members had requested I do a look up in this book for another surname. So I also looked to see if there were any abstracts for RENSHAW'S. There were 7 Renshaw families. The second entry was for a HOSEA RENSHAW age 49 making his birth( abt 1801), b. NC. His wife is Nancy age 44 b.(abt 1806) in TN. also listed are 10 children. Twins Amanda & Saraphina age 19, b.( abt 1831)-- Elizabeth age 16 b. (abt 1834), Julia age 12 b. (abt 1838), Robert age 13 b. (abt 1837), Jane age 10 b. (abt 1840), John age 7 b.(abt 1843), W. (William?) age 5 b. (abt 1845), Catherine R. age 1 b. abt 1849. Also listed as part of the household is Mary McAAMS ( Nancy's mother?). I think this maybe your Hosea & Nancy RENSHAW. The 3rd listing would appear to be their son & your James & Mary RENSHAW their ages stated fit the time frame. Jas. H. RENSHAW age 25 b.( abt 1825) in TN, Mary age 23 b.( abt 18 27),TN, Abner age 22 b.( abt 1828) ( possibly James's brother) and Telua Don GARCIA age 16. Would very much like to know what you think about this possibility. Two other families listed also give there birth places as NC. think they also maybe related. John RENSHAW age 65 b. (abt 1785) NC, Easter age 45 b. (abt 1805) SC possible 2nd marriage) Rebecca age 8 b. (1852), Anderson C. age 5 b. abt 1855), Larret age 3 b. (abt 1857) Elkanah RENSHAW age 29 b. (abt. 1821) NC, Margaret age 30 b. (abt 1820) NC. The remaining two heads of Household were: Patrick RENSHAW,age 35 b.(abt. 1815) in VA, Elizabeth age 34 b. (abt 1816) in VA, Hannah age 9 b. abt 1841), Livi 8 b. (abt 1842), Sarah age 6 b.( abt 1844), Isaac age 4 b. (abt. 1846), John age 2 b. (abt. 1848) all in VA. William RENSHAW, age 28 b.
